I researched again for JDR in my files and records recieved from family members and found nothing new. I did a name search at google and found this at an acestry.com message board:

"I know of a John Duff. He was the illegitimate son of Irene Richard, but he took the name of Rickard. He was married to Martha Ellen Rickard, sister to my greatgrandfather, Luther Rickard. My dad always referred to John as Uncle Duff. One of his sons, William Edward Rickard, boarded with us when I was a child when we lived in Detroit, Michigan. Ed moved to Florida when my parents did and died here in 1987. He is buried in Free Union Cemetery near my parents. His father could be your John Duffin.

Go to www.familysearch.com and look up William Edward Rickard, born 1901 and you will find info on John Duff also."

I will spend some time on this in the next couple of days and keep you advised vis email.

I know that I searched last year to confirm who the parents of John Duff Rickard were and was not successful. I am 100% sure that his wife Martha Ellen's last name was Rickard as well. Could not find the relationship. Their daughter Mary A Rickard was not named Duff in any record that I found.

Shirley,

I have linked Susan (#111402379) to her parents: John D. Fulkerson and Amanda Pittman.

I am still waiting for Find-a-Grave to merge Crofton and Ridgetop. I will let you know when it is completed.

RE: Crofton Ridgetop Cemetery
Shirley,

My investigation began with a message received from another member asking me to clarify if the cemeteries were one in the same. Until then, I was unaware that memorials in the same cemetery were divided under the two cemetery heading.

After going to the cemetery and locating all but 2 or 3 of the markers listed in Crofton Cemetery in the same location as all of the other markers listed in Ridge Top Cemetery, I posted the photographs and requested transfers to avoid families being split and unintentional duplications.

Since Ridge Top Cemetery has over 500 existing memorials, I think the best option would probably be to see if Find-a-Grave will update their search to show:

Ridge Top Cemetery
See: Crofton Ridge Top Cemetery
Crofton
Christian County
Kentucky
USA

This way the name on the cemetery entrance would be the primary name of the cemetery on the site, but a search for "Ridge Top" and a search for "Crofton" would both take the researcher to where they need to go.

Do you think this would clarify any confusion and enable researchers to find memorials regardless to how the cemetery is listed on the certificate of death or in the obituary? If so, I will be happy to initiate the update through Find-a-Grave's maintenance department.
Thanks for your help, Debbie
