Cpl Floyd I. Ricketts
Cpl Floyd Isaac Ricketts was a paratrooper in Headquarters & Headquarters Company 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division. He was killed on 11 July 1943 in Sicily during the so-called operation Husky.

Cpl Ricketts was on board of a C-47 transport plane that was shot down by "friendly fire". Cpl Rickett's body was found floating in the Gela Bay.

He was buried in the temporary American cemetery GELA on Sicily in grave F-67-798. Date of burial was 12 August 1943.

After the war his remains were exhumed and repatriated and buried in a cemetery in the United States.

I am writing a book about this GELA cemetery, where over 1,200 men and women were buried, who were killed in Sicily in July-August 1943.

Can I have your permission to use the picture you placed on the website, of course you will be credited and notified when the book is finished.
If you have more pictures, documentation, hope you are willing to share

thank you

Thank you for taking these pictures and placing them on this website. I didn't even know this site existed until today. Cheyenne is my late husband. He died too young after fighting for two years against a very aggressive cancer. This website is so wonderful where people can leave messages and memories about loved ones, research family history, connect with others, etc. Thank you again! Bless you!
