|All headstones photographed and submitted by me have been posted to Find A Grave, Ancestry, and Arizona Gravestones. These photos are intended to preserve the headstone in digital image for genealogical research. As a volunteer, I did not request permission to photograph from the cemetery or family who purchased the headstones. My intent is to provide a photographic record to the community not about numbers and ownership. No copyright claim is attached to the images and permission is not required for their usage. As a courtesy to existing family members, I do not add links to the AZ birth/death records. |
As a researcher, I am in awe of the dedicated volunteers who drive hundreds of miles, invest their time in walking cemeteries in all kinds of weather, and then invest their time in processing thousands of photos for upload to find a grave. Volunteers generously photograph both family and strangers in order to preserve all of our history. I am grateful to each and every volunteer who has allowed me the use of their credited photo. To usurp a volunteer's contribution based on "family" connections fails to recognize the generosity of time and labor that went before the creation of the memorial. I retain memorials that I am actively researching, but will process any updates provided. I thoroughly research all information and links
so please do not make changes without sourcing.

|KEFleming||123509146 Mercedes Valenzuelz|
I posted a picture of a Mercedes Valenzuela but the dates I found in the SS death index are slightly different from the ones you posted.
I got Sep 24, 1936 and Aug 1973.
If this is not the same Mercedes V. I will take the pictures off.
The grave was right next to a Henry V Valenzuela 1942-1984.
|John Bratton Sr. ||Gregorio Alfredo Saenz|
He is buried at Holy Cross Cemetery Tier 16, Sect. R, Lower Grave 95. He is my Uncle, John J. Bratton Sr.
|John Bratton Sr. ||Gregorio Alfredo Saenz|
He is my Uncle and my Grandmother's Sibling. I have his Death Certificate and he is the 5th child. For whatever reason, I do not see my Grandmother Mary Socorro Saenz 1910-2002. When I think that no one has entered them in Find A Grave, I come up that someone has done so. I cannot edit it because it shows you as the Generator. So if you would, please add my Grandmother which is the 3rd child of Celedonio Acedo Saenz & Tomasa Ida Lopez.
|John Reeder||Salvador Redondo|
Thanks for the info, I took care of him and his wife Margarita.
|John Reeder||Redondo family in Reedley, CA Cemetery|
I took care of Pablo and Maria Soledad Redondo. I still have some other Redondo's who need some links in the cemetery, in particular Salvador, Pablo's brother. I originally had Pablo as Jose Pablo and don't know where I got that. Do you have more links?
Thank you so much for notifying me about the duplicates I made due to the name spelling variation. I sent edits for the original memorials to change the names. I also deleted my links and sent edits to link to the original entries. Also I will ask the person who added photos to my memorials to move them to the original, so I can just delete my entries.
I see you sent edits to link my entry for William Weeden to his parents. Could you please add those links to the original William Weedin entries instead? Thanks again and I apologize for all the hassle!

|GreenHills Stones Calling||Suggested edits Troy Barnes|
Thank you very much for contacting me with suggested edits. I have made the edits except for the link to "unknown burial" father, Troy Barnes, Sr. Once his grave is found, I will be happy to make that Find A Grave link.
In addition to linking to mother, I have added links to grandparents in the bio section.
|Sharon K.||RE: Potholes Cemetery|
Thank you. I will delete the Chale entry. I suspected it was a duplicate when I realized the name on the cross was Chale but the "after reburial" list (as I call it. See explanation below) listed that plot for Charles. But I could not tell for sure if there was a fourth burial (for Chale) inside the fence. Think there are only three there, right? Charles/Chale, Rosita and a Soloman infant.
I hope to walk Potholes Cemetery after it gets a little cooler. Want to document the newer graves, fill the 3 Find A Grave photo requests and discover the owners of Unknown 02-04 tombstones. The heat (112 degrees) makes to too dangerous right now.
The documents that I am using in my research include the one you have (which contains a map of the Old cemetery site) plus a second one from the Genealogical Society of Yuma. This second, subsequent document, done by the Dept of the Interior, Bureau of Reclamation, illustrates the reburial locations in the current Potholes Cemetery. This subsequent document contains a map and a list as well. It is dated 5-9-36, which, of course, is after the relocation was completed. To refresh your memory, the relocation was done to avoid flooding by the Imperial Dam construction. The map of the current Potholes Cemetery location is divided into Blocks, Lots and Graves. Each Block is 20ft by 10ft and contains four graves. The document also contains a list which cross references the Old Site numbers (1-151,160-165, 170 and 171) to the current grave locations of the re-interred.
Thank you for telling me who takes care the Cemetery now. Hope that I can contact them at some point.
|Sharon K.||Potholes Cemetery - Chale Saloman #106 - Reclamation List.|
Have been doing some research on Potholes Cemetery. My source is the 1936 Reclamation List.
Could #106 on the Reclamation List (Chale Saloman) possibly be the same person as Carlos Salomon? The dates seem to match. Also, he seems to have had several nicknames. I did enter "Chale" as a separate person but am now thinking the entry is a duplicate. Do you have info that might resolve this?
|Sharon K.||Concerning Potholes Cemetery at Bard|
My name is Sharon (Shairi) Kilpatrick - Find A Grave Member Sharon K. #47553707. Am researching Potholes Cemetery at Bard as a result of photo requests on Find A Grave.
It seems that you are related to some of the people buried there and could possibly help me solve the mystery of who is currently buried there and in which plot. Am hoping to find a current cemetery/grave map.
Here are the clues I have so far:
First, the only map in the Arizona Room at the Yuma Library is dated 1936 (I have a copy)and has 154 interments. It is the map of burial locations known as the "Old Mission Site Cemetery" which was there BEFORE the graves were moved due to the Imperial Dam construction. Although helpful, this map is not current enough.
Secondly, the Imperial Dam construction began in 1936 according to Wikipedia. The graves were moved to the current location "up the hill" as one interviewee stated on July 15, 2015. In the same interview, the man stated that some of his relatives have been buried at the Potholes Cemetery location SINCE the Old Mission graves were moved. So, we know that there are more there than the original 154.
Third, since this site is actually in California, there is nothing on Arizona Graves website. Imperial County is not covered on California Gravestones site.
Do you have an up-to-date map, a list of people buried there since the move or know of where I can do more research. Would love to speak to you personally. All clues are appreciated as I would love to fill the Potholes Cemetery photo requests on Find A Grave.
