Hi, Everyone!
They say there are no coincidencies in this world and it certainly proved true, when I googled Maira one day. One of the search results offered an option: Maera. In Greek mythology, Maera was the hound of Icarus, father of Erigone.
According to the myth:
"Icarus was a follower of wine god Dionysus and had been taught how to make wine. While travelling, Icarus met some drunken shepherds, who killed him. After getting sober next day the shepherds understood what they had done and buried Icarus' body. Erigone was worried about her father, and set off with her dog Maera to find him. Maera at last discovered his grave, and both became so overwhelmed with grief that Erigone hanged herself and Maera leapt off a cliff. According to the Greek poet Nonnos, Maera declined to leave the grave and was starved to death. Upon hearing the news, Dionysus placed them in the sky as the constellations of Virgo (Erigone), Boëtes (Icarus) and the dog star, Sirius (Maera)."
In the remembrance of Maera, the eternally devoted dog, I'll do my best posting photographs of as many gravestones as possible in the Kanta-Häme area in the Southern Province of Finland.

Oikeuden perustelujen mukaan kysymys ei ole sellaisesta yksityisyyden suojasta, jota henkilötietolaissa tarkoitetaan."

Have just found your Pulli info and wanted to know if there is any connection to Erkki Juha Pulli b. 1879 Viipuri - Sortavala - (now Vyborg) immigrated to US 1910. Had brothers & sisters: Sanna, Matti, Vaino, Emma, Hilma, Anna Mary, Eliisabet, Edit.
His mother was Regina... I don't have his father's name. Thank you for any information.

Hello from Canada Maira!
You have a Paananen family marker. I am looking for the family of Emma Paananen born in Vitasaari Finland in 1882. She emigrated to the US, to the residence of her uncle in Ashtabula, Ohio first, and then went on to Washington State. She was denied citizenship five times and returned to Finland sometime after 1942. I know nothing more about her Finn family. Any help you might be able to offer would be priceless!
