Air Force brat, music critic at the Shreveport Times 1977-1991, military reporter there 1992-2012, local desk editor 2012-present. Various editorships held, but writing is main gig. Co-author of a history of Barksdale Air Force Base. Interest in genealogy since 1990, willing to visit Northwest Louisiana cemeteries. Fascinated by the stories of those in them, cognizant that people only pass from memory if we let them.|
Unless there are historical or sentimental or research reasons disinclining me, I will transfer memorials upon request to children or grandchildren of those memorialized. More distant relationships will not guarantee transfer and are decided on a case-by-case basis. When available, I post news stories and obits associated with the deaths and am not responsible for the manner of death of a loved one -- suicide or murder for example -- or the public attention it may have garnered at the time. You cannot change history; it changes us.

|Tim Cook||Barksdale B-47 incident 1957|
I am seeking information about 3 additional airmen who perished when a B-47 attempted to abort takeoff from Barksdale AFB on Dec. 6, 1957. The only name I have is for Carlton A Boutelle which you maintain the memorial.

Thanks for taking the time to photograph and post the Johnson headstones at the Greenwood Cemetery in Shreveport. The time you took to do this is greatly appreciated.
|Peggy||RE: Lawrence Rudy birth year|
You are right about 1883, but there is some confusion here. His memorial page has 1888.

|M Hodge||RE: Theodocia Shahan|
Thank very much for your quick response in locating the Shahan obituaries! I appreciate it very much. Their son Barney Gould Shahan died March 5, 1919, in Shreveport. His WW I Draft Registration card says that he lost the use of both legs. I am hoping there is an obituary for him that might explain this more.
Also, Civil War veteran William Gilbert Brook died Oct 16, 1929, either in Shreveport, or in Logansport, DeSoto Parish. Could you please check for me to see if there is an obituary for him as well? I have no information on his parents.

Thank you for the Shahan headstone photo! Where could I find an obituary for Theodocia, who died in Shreveport in 1939?

At this time I would prefer not to transfer his memorial, but I will gladly add any information you send to his memorial page.
