John Bean Moomau
John died at the CSA Charlotteville hospital 5 days After his wife died in Staunton & not knowing she had died. He had moved the family from their Oak St. home in the town of Franklin, Pendleton County WV right after the start of the war between the states broke out to Augusta county since Hannah Hinkle (DICE) Moomau had Many family members living there, The move was only supposed to temporary until the shocking death of both parents left 8 orphans, a few went to live with family back in Franklin the rest stayed with family & friends here in VA, I guess since the war was still going on the family felt it would just be easier to bury them at Thornrose than take them home to Franklin WV. (Also his little brother killed at Cross Keys/Union Church is assumed to have been taken to thornrose with all the other fallen soldiers)

John AllenSelden
With all due respect I believe this is John Armistead Selden of the prominent Seldens from the Westover Plantation. Several edits to follow.

RE: Thomas Hutchison
Scott, Yes. Hutchinson/Hutchison/Hutcherson were all used interchangeable. Not necessarily intentionally. There are many, many cases of this in documents and histories. This is most likely because, as you go back in time, most people could not read or write, so the spelling was left to someone else. Add a little Virginia drawl, and interpretation becomes more varied. I have found many cases where the parents names are Hutchinson and their offspring are Hutchison, and vice versa. As a result I have many relatives which spell Hutchinson using the variations.....even today.
If you like I provide you with how I am related to Thomas. There are many of my Hutchinson/Hutchison/Hutcherson ancestors from Loudoun and Fauquier counties.
You are the first to question the spelling of Hutchinson, which I find interesting, since I question it when I first started looking at me ancestors.
Hope this helps....

Thanks, Ken
