For what it is worth, I want to thank all the selfless members who volunteer to honor and respect those who have passed before us. To sincerely thank them for the countless hours that they have contributed walking the cemeteries photographing, creating & or maintaining memorials, and sharing that information with the millions that would not be able to see it otherwise.|
A special sincere thanks to all the people that have transferred memorials of my family members to me. I want to wish everyone a very healthy and prosperous 2016
I find it such an honor to be able to join people that have been separated for so long, especially children that died at birth, or passed at a very young age, often separated by many miles and years. Even if just virtual connection it always gives me a special feeling knowing that others might not have to dig around to find they even existed in the first place.
Please remember that I always try to portray as accurate data as possible and that I am a volunteer doing this out of the kindness of my heart. I have joined thousands of individual graves with their loved ones that are not even related to me and do this in hopes that it helps others in the future, please remember this before jumping to harsh conclusions and that this is also a work in progress and we can all make mistakes or interpret documents differently.
I thought I might borrow what Jeff Gonyea on his Find a Grave profile:
"We don't "own" the memorials we manage - they are not ours. We may create them, we may update them, we may transfer them to others - we are but stewards. They are Find A Grave memorials of human beings, departed. They are not "friends" on a social media network website to be collected like baseball trading cards. And there's no prize for the one who dies with the most.
The reward (for me) comes from maintaining the most accurate and dignified memorials I can. What we record becomes history, and a record in someone else's family tree. We have a responsibility to do a good job of it. It's a privilege and honor."
Well put Jeff, and I just wish more of the people could soak these words of wisdom in.
*If you volunteer on this website and decide you no longer want to maintain memorials, please transfer your records to someone who has an active account and are willing to take over management of the memorials. I am one of many willing to take over records. This really will help reduce duplicates.
You can email firstname.lastname@example.org if you have someone who has accepted stewardship over the memorials you added. Please send in their member number with your email. Feel free to contact me should you wish that someone maintain the memorials you have created. Thanks!*

|Tom Owen||Memorial Park in Memphis|
You recently requested a grave photo at Memorial Park Cemetery in Memphis. This cemetery is quite large and without a plot location it is near impossible to just stumble upon a requested grave.
I am happy to try to fulfill your request though if you will contact the office and ask for the plot location.
Just let me know, or post the plot on the memorial and I will try to fulfill it in the near future
The office can be reached at (901) 767-8930

Joseph, You emailed me in August but I just now saw it. I get so many emails, stuff gets lost in the shuffle. I really appreciate the "thank yous". Feel free to friend me. As for the photos, many of the ones on my memorials were taken and added by other members. You'll have to look under each photo where it says "added by" to see if it's mine or someone else's. Feel free to use mine, but I can't speak for others. You'll have to contact them. Sorry it took so long for me to respond. Good luck with your family search!

First of all, thank you for the kind words. I especially like your "borrowed" thoughts on "owning" memorials. We are of like mind in that regard. I, too, post what I have found in hopes of helping others and linking long deceased family members who were separated.
As for transfers, I am not related to most of Mifflin County (I'm a transplant to the area) and I am more than willing to transfer to a family member no matter how distant. Please go to the edit tab at each memorial and request a transfer through the suggestion box.
You may use my photos and credit would be nice but not demanded. I would be happy to be your "friend" on this site.
Thank you for all you have done also and in the spirit for which I believe it was intended.
P.S. I think the twin to Rosannah you were looking for is brother Robert Sterrett.
|Longmont Genealogical Society||William B Neeley|
We have made the birth location corrections to William B Neeley memorial, #60875214, per your request. Regarding transfer, we generally follow Find a Grave relationship guidelines, sometimes with a bit of additional latitude. Can you please advise as to your relationship to William Neeley.
Pres. Longmont Genealogical Society
Thanks Joseph. I'm sure you read my bio, so I won't rehash that bit. Having used this site in the construction of my family tree, it occurred to me that I needed to pay forward those efforts of contributors who came before me by photographing the stones at a local cemetery.
Along the way, I made a few friends and many acquaintances at the cemetery. Again, thanks for your kind words.

I love the video "West Texas" by Wyman Meinzer and watch it often. That is were I first saw the gravestone and stopped the video to be able to read it. I found the picture on his website and got is permission to use it. I do not know how to get a higher resolution picture to replace the one I have.

I added bio information to Stella. You may like to look at it.
|Kathy Franks||Nancy Pitman|
Joseph, thanks for the information you sent to add to Nancy's memorial and catching my typo that I had her marrying on her death date. Nancy's daughter, Eva, was my great grandmother. Eva was the mother of my grandfather, Hugh Benton Cunningham. I was wondering where you fit in to the family.

I see you have a friend or relative buried in this
Could you give me directions to it or put me in contact with someone who can?
