Grew up in northern Prince George's County, Maryland, and since retiring from NASA, found a new vocation... genealogy. It all began when my kids, at a family gathering, queried me about their pedigree and I realized how little I knew about my ancestors. I had some knowledge of my Mom's family, but knew virtually nothing about my Dad's. So the great quest began. Now I've become the "unofficial" family historian and spend way too much time glued to the computer and tramping around cemeteries.
Some names I am researching: Allison, Allred/Alred, Banner, Bargar, Bitting, Callender, Gooding, Groft, Hay, Hook, Remy, Ritenour, Schenk, Selby, Washburn, Woods, Wooster/Worster & Yeakle.
Please submit any additions or corrections to me under "Suggest a Correction" on the memorial site and I will be happy to add in links, updates and further information. I will be glad to transfer memorials outside my family, but please read the Transfer Requirements before making a request. Please send transfer requests through the "Suggest a Correction" tab and include the memorial number and a valid e-mail address.
Jane Davis Gooding & William Davis Barbara-I have downloaded the documents from Fold3 showing the August 20, 1838 sworn testimony of Jane Gooding and William Davis in the Revolutionary War pension application for Martha Davis widow of Pvt. John Harrell born 1758 in Charles County Maryland. They testified that Martha Davis married John Harrell in 1789. Difficult to read but I can e-mail them to you if you are interested. I'm fairly certain after finding your memorials that they were siblings. Martha was born in Fairfax County 1770. Do you have any idea who their Parents were? Kathy firstname.lastname@example.org
Jeremiah hampton I have for Jeremiah's death being Sept 26, 1854 you have on Find a grave being in Dec 1854. My date came from my Aunt's book she did on her family. Jeremiah would of been her Great Grandfather (I hope I have it right) so if you can let me know which one is correct.
RE: John Franklin Davis I found it while trying to find my GGGFather David Hall Davis (DE 1811) and his wife Louisa H (NC 1816). I am not sure they are the same folks. My cousin and I have been trying to trace them. Thanks!
RE: Emma Dare Bargar Woods I'm sorry I am not related to Emma. I found those obits for her while I was looking for some of my relatives. I thought it would be nice to add what I found here, so her family would have this information............. Judy L. McKibben Willis
RE: Jessie Power Brauer Would love to get more of your research data. The "twice removed" "title" is a mystery to me. My husband also has Woods in his family tree. Would be fun to see if we (my husband and I) are related!!
