Bio and Links
Bio Photo The life of a person is more than the dash between two dates. It is my hope that the memorials which I create or manage can make the individuals life fuller, even if just linking to family members or adding a few tidbits of information. Researching and including other family information makes them more than graves, they are people. Suggestions are welcome but please submit them using the edit button at the upper right corner of each memorial.
Even when transcribing cemeteries I work hard to link other family members.
I live in the northwestern mountains of North Carolina and have work primarily in cemeteries there. My current focus is Carolina Memorial Park in Concord, North Carolina. There are 30,000 graves but only about 17,500+ listed. I've done more than 4,000 of those. Much of my family is buried there. I am also focusing on Salisbury National Cemetery Annex.
I'm not about numbers. For seven years I cared for my elderly mother who had Alzheimer's. She wanted to go out but I could not trust a Mall or other public places, so we went to cemeteries where I took pictures. During the evenings, when I could not leave the house, I would upload the pictures to my computer and fill out spreadsheets. Since her passing two years ago I am not as active and have given a lot of time to upload my backlog of pictures, which I have reduced from over 4,000 to about 1,000. It's time consuming as I edit ever picture I upload. I am not related to most of my memorials.

My family can be traced back 46 generations to County Leichester, England. The family is English/Norman. They came to England with William after the Battle of Hastings in 1066. The photo above is my ancestor, Sir Nicholas Purefoy, buried in The Church of St. Michael and all Angels in Fenny Drayton, Co. Leicestershire, England. The spelling of my name is the most rare of the three family groups: Purefoy, Purifoy and Peurifoy. The early Purefoys were in Jamestown, VA long before the Hugonaut movement.
On my paternal side I am interested in the Peurifoy, Purifoy, Purefoy, Scott and Suther families.
For my maternal side are Statons, Stiller's,and Moores (from Stanly Co, NC).
My wife is from the Byrd and Carr families of Duplin County, NC.

RE: Salisbury National Cemetery

I feel your pain! Your recurring contributors are probably some that I have contacted when I was working in the historic cemetery. I don't know what the answer is. The only burials now are those of a spouse/partner who is already buried there. Otherwise, we could ask the administrators to "close" the cemetery. No...that wouldn't work either. We'll just have to keep vigilant and try to help, one edit at a time.

I would send you some of my patience, but I don't have any to spare.

Thanks and best wishes,

RE: Ceasar and Jeannette Cone
Thanks for replacing the deleted memorials.
We hiked to the Moses Cone plot while on the Blue Ridge Parkway. The climb wore us out so we didn't continue on the rest of the trail.
Took photos, but they would only duplicate those already posted on findagrave.

RE: Charles !
That's pretty wild. My John Collins I died before Charles was executed and his son, John II, took over, as the title was run in perpetuity. When John II saw that Charles I had been beheaded, his family decided that it was time to come to America.

Amazing connection. Glad you told me.

RE: New London Cemetery
Hey!!! I hope you've been doing well lately! I've been busy this summer and not as active on Find A Grave… but now that the summer is winding down, I'm enjoying getting out and photographing! I've been working at Fairview Memorial in Albemarle lately… looking for my family mainly but also trying to get the cemetery updated. I had stopped by New London a few weeks ago to find a request… I had spent lots of time there in 2013… I have some family there as well. But I know there's still more to be done! I've uploaded all I have taken to Find A Grave for that cemetery. I had to chuckle… many of the Fairview interments that I've added have parents buried in New London! Take care and enjoy this wonderful fall weather! Blessings, Dana
