RE: Granddad Hi the small boy must have been me, Harriet's Grandson Rick has been visiting me this past 2 weeks from the USA. do you have any pictures of John Cain and Jane, I have none and I would like to see what they looked like. Joe and Fred have passed but Betty and Barbara are doing well. Regards Roger
I have sent you an email regarding John Cain, Maternal Grandfather was John Cain. I have visited his grave in Abbyville many times and attended the remembrance Sunday in Abbyville a few years ago which was very moving. My Mother was Cecilia Cain and her Sister, my Aunt Harriet was sent to America as a young girl, the only thing of family in her possession was the War medal for John Cain which was given to his Widow. When she died the medal was passed to me and I was able to find his grave. Unfortunately no one has been able to tell me more about him or why he enlisted at such an age, I only know he was a cutler by profession. I had 2 Brothers who are now dead, Joseph and Fred. I have two older Sisters Barbara ( Christened Cecelia) and Betty ( Christened Harriet). On my Motherís side I knew my Aunt Kate and Aunty Ann who had a club foot and thatís about it until I saw your info. I hope this is the same man we both know as our Grandfather it would be lovely to know more about him. Regards Roger Verallo
