Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am happy to help and share; all I ask is that you give me credit if you use my photographs on another site.

I am working on my family tree, always a work in progress. I am researching both sides of my family: my father's side of the family, the Holder/Owen and Walker/Smith families, including some of the lines that cross; I am also working on my mother's tree that include the Moorman, Tate, Musselman, Wright, and Mendenhall families, and quite a few of the families connected to them, including my son-in-law's Way family.

I have the Wayne County, Iowa Cemetery Book (but not the supplement), so I would be happy to look up grave locations.

I also have Volumes 1-7 of the Scarborough/Haworth (Some Quaker Families), and I would be willing to look up information for others from those books as well.

When I photograph headstones, I make every effort to make sure the names and dates are legible.

A little about us...

We began our new adventure in July 2011, traveling full time in our RV. Now that I am retired, I hope to spend time sewing, reading, hiking, bicycling, kayaking (when it's warm enough) and (of course) working on my family trees and creating memorials for my family members here. I am happy to help others when I can, and I try to help fulfill requests when I am walking cemeteries where we are staying. My husband has his own hobbies; however, he goes with me and is very helpful when we walk cemeteries, including taking time to clean a headstone so that it can be read more easily.

thanks for your kind words. I am related to the Sager, Faris, Rockwell, Grismore, Gotheridge, and Wycoff families in Wayne County. Hosie would be a distant cousin and the Sager cousins get together thru email and share all the info they can get on the family. I therefore leave anything I find in the cemeteries in which my relatives are buried in: Southlawn, Tharp, Promise City, Corydon, Hazel Dell, and Cross Roads.

Elizabeth Tharp
Thanks for adding the picture of Elizabeth's burial site from the Promise City Cemetery. I noticed at the far right of the photo, the little round top stone in the row where she is buried, I could make out the name Elizabeth on it. Is that just someone else with the same name buried in that row? Also could you look to see if you can find anything on her husband James Tharp (118680319) in your book? Thanks for your help.

RE: Pics at Hazel Dells Cemetery
Hello Zerelda ~ Thank you for taking the time and effort to take and post these pictures for me. This is a strange story about this family. My maiden name is LOHR, so you might think they are related on my father's side of the family. They could be but I have traced this family from my mother's side starting in West Virginia to PA to OH settling in IA. My father's LOHRs were in Marshall & Jasper counties in IA. I can't get them back from where they came from. So I was hoping these two groups would link up. Not yet, but I'm still working. Thanks again for all your work. ~ Karin Lohr Love

Asa P Smith
Anna married Edmund J Britt 5 Mar 1843 in Fulton Cty, IL so I suspect Asa P died there sometime before then. She married Aaron Motsinger 29 Sep 1850 in Fulton Cty, IL and by 1856 they were in Elkhart, Iowa with the other Motsingers and Shorts.

Anna "Annie" Willcockson or Wilcoxen

Annie is a distant cousin, wife of 1st cousin 4x removed. Her third husband was Aaron Moses Motsinger, my line. My family lived in the Elkhart, IA area and I've been to the Byers Cemetery where I took the picture of her tombstone.

I do not have a verification of the marriage record, only the date I got on from another tree, actually several trees had the same date.

I believe her first husband was Asa P Smith w/son of same name. Anna and family were close to my Shorts, both lived in the Fulton, IL and Elkhart, IA areas.

Do you know the correct spelling of her maiden name? Birth and death dates for Asa P. Smith Sr.?
