Union office records show her as Lillian.

Beth: I will have to do some research at the cemetery before I can answer your question. Usually I would pick up on entries like Lulu with the same dates, but this one got by me. I will probably delete my entry when I clear up the names. Will be back to you later. Dean

I found two more news clips about Lula's death. She had a sister by the name of Mrs. R. Burnett living in Bakersfield at the time of her death. I'll look for an obit for her and see if there is anything mentioned about her parents. Fun mystery to research.....

Beth... I put in a few hours of research on this and this must be his first wife per what I see on Ancestry.com...3 months after Lula's death (her first name per CA death records) Michael was living in Taft, Kern Co., CA...30 min drive from Bakersfield....where he registered as being "single"..... I put his WW I draft registration on his grave memorial...# 63979405 /// Lula BOLD is now linked to him.... Hope this helps. How did I get the obit? One of my obsessions is working through alod bakersfield Californian papers and matching obits with graves at Union Cemetery.

How exciting!! I am so happy to have made a contribution to your tree. I too have been helped by many angels on findagrave. I am happy to transfer as I am not related. I walked the cemetery with a friend whose mother was a Meyer, trying to help her with her family tree. There are many Meyers in the cemetery, but I don't recall the exact vicinity of the Leonards. I go by there frequently and I'll try to remember to check it out.
They are also my 4th gr grandparents, I do know there is no Cemetery records back that far and no marker now. I grew up just 1 mile from there and when I started genealogy I had found a old cemetery reading for Old Anderson at a LDS church library and Samuel was listed and a _ Jenkins next to him, When I went back after 8 years the church was gone and I do not know where that church and records went to.
Samuel and Letitia Jenkins was the parents of Sarah Jenkins and she married Benjamin Grove in 1835 Marion co Indiana and she is buried at Crown Hill Cemetery.
So we know the family was here in 1835 and still here in the 1850 census..
Can I ask how you fit in..

Yes you may. Sorry about the lateness in responding. Since retiring from teaching, I picked up another job that is more time consuming.

Hi Beth .... my BENSON line is maternal ... Lewis Barber Benson married to Malinda Blanchard ... there is a MD / VA line of SMELSER that we believe to be "us" but have NOT yet been able to prove it. The autosomal DNA matching through Family Finder (www.FTDNA.com) keeps pointing us back to early Maryland but so far we do NOT have Y-DNA confirmation. Would be glad to discuss further ... in fact would love to discuss further .... firstname.lastname@example.org

Yes we are family!
I will be glad what I have on the family. I have found more on the Eversull family than our Jenkins family do to the name being so common..
I Look forward to share data about the family.
