In my short time partaking of this hobby, I find myself spending extra time to clean-up around veterans grave markers. I am also seeing a disturbing trend of where a photo request is made, a member here claims it, but does not post the picture. I cannot understand the reasoning behind this trend. Surely upsets the person who made the request in hopes of verifying where their loved one is buried and no photo proof is posted here. I am making an effort to find the older photo requests that have been made, claimed, but no picture posted.|
If you have already set-up a memorial here, I hope you do not mind my putting up an extra picture. Early morning and late afternoon sun light seems to add a nice glow to the markers, so I post those pictures as well. If you do not want a picture I have posted on your memorial, please let me know and I will remove it. At the same time, if you have posted a memorial that I have taken a photo of, I will make every effort to contact you if there is an error on your memorial. It is our duty as a members of find-a-grave to get it right for those who are trying so hard to find their loved ones. I have been working on getting a memorial up for all of the soldiers in the Confederate section of the Old City Cemetery here in Lynchburg. If you can help in any way with any additional information or corrections, especially with the memorials I have up for those men, please don't hesitate to let me know.
Being a military veteran and proud of my heritage, I would not take kindly to seeing anyone do anything to desecrate the American flag. It does amaze me though to see an American flag on a Confederate soldier's grave. Before you chastise me on that stance, try to get your mind into the world that these men lived in. Do not preach to me about being politically correct or that the hard feelings from the Civil War died off long ago. These brave men died far from home, defending what they thought was right. They earned the privilege of having a Confederate battle flag or a flag from their home state on their final resting place! They gave their lives for the cause. Please do not disrespect them with an American flag on their grave. They fought against that flag, not for it.

In the cemetery book it is showing that she was b & d on January 31, 1927. That's probably what it means, but not sure.
