I have been turning over the leaves in my family tree for several years now and have become completely addicted to Genealogy. I love learning the history of my past relations, and relearning the actual history they participated in. The thrill of any discovery is such a treasure. My roots include, but are not limited to: AL/TN/SC/GA - Belew/Belue, Comer, Harris, Hammond, Todd, Powers, Tyler, and Wood - |
MA – Ashworth, Marsh, Mullin, Souza / UK – Mullin, Marsh, Burns, Gill, Pendlebury and Wilson.
I have found cemeteries to be fascinating, and enjoy helping you discover your roots as well!
NOTE: Copyrights on Photos ~ Every headstone photo I have taken and posted may be exported to continue your journey, as long as you remember to be reverent and respectful with it. ~ God Bless!

|Ace||RE: Copyright Infringement|
Hi! Thank you for writing and your questions.
The problem, if not evident, I had was that the other member literally copied my photo and placed their name on the photo AFTER I stated I would post my photos for them if they created the memorials for the additional family members I found for them (at the location where they wanted photographs taken). There literally (pun intended) was no reason for them to copy my photograph and then post it with their name as the creator.
Any 3rd grader knows what "copying from your neighbor" is; any high school student knows what plagiarism is; and any college or graduate student knows that not giving credit to your sources will probably lead to a grade of "F" or get you kicked out of the college or university. I believe my words and indignation were appropriately harsh given the situation. Although you did not ask, I thought you should know that the member in question wrote back soon afterwards and apologized for their transgression of copyright etiquette.
I do routinely grant permission for my photos to be used on Ancestry.com, etc. when people ask. I have yet to refuse anyone photos who has politely asked to reuse them as long as they provided appropriate credit. FYI, I also frequently spend extra time trying to find the extra grave markers that the photo requestor did not even know was buried nearby - all in the hopes that it does bring joy and happiness to the Find A Grave member and leads to a fuller 'tree.'
The photo I use for my profile is, to the best of my knowledge, in the public domain. I have looked for years trying to find out additional information regarding the original publication name (in 1924). I actually own an original newspaper print of this from 1930. Reprints of this photo are routinely sold on the web without any copyright attribution. The earliest example of this photo that I have found with attribution is marked "International" [Wire Service] in 1930.
I welcome any additional questions you may have.

Thank you, Jill for the transfers. Just found Susan's family about a month ago, after years of searching. So thrilled to find all the extended families.

|Colleen Coey Weis||Coey Brothers Tranfer|
Thank you so very much for the memorial transfers of Coey brothers -- Charles Parker & Milton Berry Coey. This was exciting as I just located the memorials of the brothers mother, paternal grandfather and uncle. It'll be fun to get them linked to their family group and ancestral history.
Appreciate your time, work and contribution to Find-A-Grave.

Would it be possible for you to transfer all the langan folks in that cemetery to me? They are related to my gr grandfather thru his step mother. We just found this whole family and were excited to find their info in this cemetery.

How are you connected to Emma? I am connected thru Emma's mother, Susan Dickenschied Ide. Do you have any information on Emma's date of death.
Also date of death for Emma's husband, James, if you have it.

Hope that you are okay. I have sent you several suggestions for memorials. Should I send them again?

Jill, thanks for your nice Find A Grave thank-you note. The obits come from google newspapers online, you can see all the newspapers listed at: http://news.google.com/newspapers The death info from familysearch.org and http://www.digitalarchives.wa.gov/Home I sometimes search on http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/ They are all free. I try to add links to my sources. I get disappointed when I see a Memorial with the only information a birth and death year. I enjoy the notes that you leave with your tribute flowers. They are a nice addition to a Memorial Page. Best wishes, Leslie
