Your tombstone stands among the rest;|
Neglected and alone.
The name and date are chiseled out
On polished, marbled stone.
It reaches out to all who care
It is too late to mourn.
You did not know that I exist
You died and I was born.
Yet each of us are cells of you
In flesh, in blood, in bone.
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse
Entirely not our own.
Dear Ancestor, the place you filled
One hundred years ago
Spreads out among the ones you left
Who would have loved you so.
I wonder if you lived and loved,
I wonder if you knew
That someday I would find this spot,
And come to visit you.
If anyone has an addition or correction to anything I have posted please contact me and I will quickly correct it. I am more than happy to turn over ownership to anyone who requests it. AND PLEASE IF YOU SEE THAT I HAVE ENTERED A NAME TWICE, PLEASE TELL ME ABOUT IT. It is easy to make a duplicate without realizing it.
Also -- another FindAGrave contributor wrote this... I think it says it all:
Please note: This is NOT a numbers game, Nor a "who has who" game here. Some of us are serious about getting names & photos of headstones that are not going to be around and making memorial pages. That is what this is about, making/recording that person lived and died. Like many, I spend long, long hours either in a cemetery, or adding memorial pages to Findagrave.com. I would love to see some of the headstones of family members that were in the 1700 & 1800 of my family, but that isn't going to happen as many are gone.
It doesn't matter who has the memorial page, the important thing is that someone cared enough to make a memorial page to honor that person and that is what findagrave.com is all about. Honoring the deceased, NOT who has what memorial or how many that they have. Thanks!

Hello, I wanted to ask if you would mind transferring Carolyn Oaks Find A Grave Memorial# 59716799 to me. I would like to update the family relationship for her parents and so forth. My finda a grave id is Lora (#46922086). If you prefer not to transfer I will provide her fathers find a grave id. Thank you.

|Martha Churchill||William Melville Gregory 55110229|
In researching this man, I found a death record showing he died April 3, 1884.
Ancestry says his parents were Uriah Morehouse Gregory and Lucretia Ely Gregory.
The 1850 census shows his children as Lucretia, 14 (named after his mother?); Augustus, 12; James, 10; Mary, 7; Frances (girl) 4; and Edward, 7 mos. I think Edward died because he is absent for the 1860 census.
In 1860, there is a boy, "Willie" age 8 plus the others.
In 1870, his daughter Fanny, 23, (Frances?) is the only of his sons and daughters living in his home. Also in 1870, the farm census shows he had 3 horses. His farm equipment was worth $280, which is a lot. He had 5 cattle and 25 sheep. He was growing winter wheat and corn.
In 1880, he was living with his son James and James' family. James had a little boy named "Melville" after William Melville Gregory's middle name.

Thank you so much for transferring John to me. It is very much appreciated, as is all the work you do so very well on findarave, which benefits us all.

I do know their parents names. Charles Miles Cass and Lilly Rosenberry. I can get their birth and death dates if you want them. I also know that they have 2 other sons who are now deceased

Hi Old Bones,
I'm descended from Jessie > Jedediah > Jedediah > Elihu Cornell. Looking to trace further back. Hopefully to a Revolutionary war soldier. I would appreciate any help you might offer.
