"A cemetery . . . tells the story of the past, not of its institutions, or its wars, or its ideas, but of its individual lives, -- of its men and women and children, and of its household. It is silent, but eloquent; it is common, but it is unique."
-Joseph Anderson, American Clergyman
1836 - 1916

Hello Georgia
Georgia how have you been? Thanks for your sweet note. It's nice to be back, but very hard to navigate the site on an android tablet. I am hoping to get my desktop fixed soon, so I can be more active on the site again. Nice to see you around on here again. Take good care. Your friend, Tippy

Thank you
I just wanted to thank you for the information you sent to Rosie to me. We don't have very good treatments around here in Monroe,MI. I do not like my doctor and the other doctors here are afraid to take me with my many health problems. Maybe some day we will have doctor's who are willing to do more. Hugs, Ann

Sponsorship of Aunt Mae's Memorial
What a lovely and generous gesture, dear Georgia, to find that you've sponsored my beloved Aunt Mae. Your thoughtfulness is so very deeply appreciated. You're a sweetheart! Love and huggles, Suse

RE: Chauncey Queer & wife
So far the PA death certificates on Ancestry.com are only available from 1906-1924. They're slowly working on getting all of them on-line ending with 1963, hopefully by November.

Utah
Yes-I spoke too soon, before looking into his bio - strange because he spent so much early time in the east - then the Texas connection - then Salt Lake and am looking when he ended up in Hollywood. If I am finding the right man, he was married before... sure strange to lose track of Junie/June. Do you know where they married?

His marriage to a Nancy Carter Sigler was supposedly in St Louis, Missouri 8 Dec 1896. Found her family in Caldwell, Kentucky, but not her; she is supposed to have married again to a W. Homer Batiste.

Utah mystery?
Could not see where Utah comes into this family - but I started further back to see if I could come down thru records.
Found the christening for Judge Hooper Cumming Van Vorst on 5 Oct 1818 at Third Presbyterian Church, Albany, Albany, NY with birth date of 3 Dec 1817. Father John Van Vorst, mother "Elizabeth".

Are you certain Elizabeth was a daughter of a Gardiner Baker?

I found a Gardiner Baker, born about 1792, in New York...# 32424977 - the right age to be a brother, but HIS father's name is Abraham Baker, husband of Agnes - they are in the same cemetery.

Anyway, I am checking census, etc. trying to come down that line. May take awhile. Talk later~ Shirleen

Thank you
Thanks so much for leaving a memento for my son, Brad...very sweet of you.

I visited your gr grandmother, Mary Cecelia - notice her mother was Irish - my maternal line is O'Brien.

Her wedding announcement was wonderful, the Wedding Ceremony being described as "the service that united in the holy and indissoluble bonds of wedlock - two souls with but a single thought; two hearts that beat as one."

After 53 great years of our own marriage, I thought what a blessing it would be if every couple had that kind relationship! (and understood it to be "indissoluble").

Thanks again for stopping by; if I can ever help with pedigree research, be happy to - [I'm not so good at photographs!] ~Cheers, Shirleen

Van Vorst Sec 83 lot 59 Albany Rural Cem
Hi;
The spelling on the stone was Van Voorst. If you go to http://search.ancestry.com/search/db.aspx?dbid=2226&enc=1 you can find the cemetery card for Alvin Charles Van Voorst who died in 1944, and it shows the lot and section numbers. I tried to paste the stone photo here, but could not.
Best
Tom
