Bio Photo I'm fairly new to genealogy and researching, but the bug has bitten hard.

Any photos that I have posted, feel free to copy for your use. When I take a photo, my hope is that it will be useful to researchers, be appreciated by survivors, and enjoyed by them all.

Robert Emmette Leigh
Hi. May I suggest a correction to Robert Emmette Leigh - Find A Grave Memorial# 12915532.
You have his father as William Leigh and his sister is Martha Ann Leigh Eckford. William is his grandfather and Martha is his aunt. William did have a son named Robert Leigh but the Robert who died in 1956 is the grandson.
William Leigh died in 1851.
If you remove the connection between William and Robert I will submit an edit to tie Robert Emmett Leigh to the correct parents.
According to my family records, Robert Emmett Leigh was born June 1865 in Virginia. He was the son of Dr James Leigh & Caroline Wiatt. He had a 1st cousin named Emmett Wiatt.
Thank you, William Wiatt

I am the g g granddaughter of Augusta Murdock Cox's second husband Gideon Cox. I was recently in Columbus for genealogy purposes. I was not able to find two things...Records of Gideon's three year civil war service and anything on Adolph Chapsky's parents. Do you have any advice? I do know there was some connection to the Chapsky's and the Bluhms and Lipseys.

Fleeta West Vandiver
Hi Dixie,
My name is Vicki West Fermil. I am trying to find info on a story about a Wedge and a family Bible owned by Fleeta West Vandiver. Legend says it was passed down thru the West family to the youngest son from Benjamin West. Fleeta had a daughter named Dixie. Are you any relation to this family?

Sallie F Page
Can you tell me the name of Sallie's husband if Page is her married name? My great grandfather's second wife's name was Sallie. They lived in Mississippi. It think though it was Lauderdale county. His name was Owen Pigford Page.

Wilma Shanklin Wilkes Green
There is another memorial of Wilma Shanklin Wilkes Green (Find A Grave # 145415957) with obit also by Shirley C Cole. It does not have the family links, however. If you want I can delete mine or ask her to do so.There is no need of duplication.

William T Halbert
Hi Dixie, I am trying to find information on William Halbert. I just found out he was married to my mother at the time of his death. I'll take anything.

Here is another you may find interesting regarding another relative of ours, Mary Ann Gammill Lavender, who is also buried in Beersheba. You might want to place it in her Findagrave listing.

"Aunt Jennie McLeod told me that when her great-grandmother died they planned to take her back [to Mantua] to be buried by her husband; however, the winter weather was so severe and their only transportation would be by wagon, and the ground was frozen for some depth. Because of this, she was buried close to John Wilson's home. At the time she died there was only one cemetery close to the family, Beersheba Church in Lowndes County, MS and her grave is located here. Sometime during the 1960s vandals went into Beersheba and broke and disfigured many of the monuments, including Mary Ann's."
