| Bio and Links | Find A Grave is a great website and I enjoy contributing memorials and pictures when time allows. Each memorial has the potential with all the information and pictures posted to help so many people with genealogy and finding the locations of relatives, as well as giving them a chance to view the markers of friends & relatives they may have never seen or are too far away to travel and see.
I started researching my family in the mid-1970's with help from my Dad. He passed and I've continued on and off through the years. Most of my line on my father's side are from names residing in the southern United states for many generations all the way back to the Revolution and before. Predominately in the areas of North & South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama and Louisiana, with the exception of one great-grandfather who migrated south from Ohio with some family members after the Civil War and married in Arkansas. My mother's side all came from Italy just after the turn of the Century.
*I'm very happy for anyone to use my photos on other websites such as ancestry.com etc, however, if you could you just please remember to credit my name with the photo it would be much appreciated! (ie: photo courtesy of KBounds @ findagrave.com) or something to that effect.
If you send me information to include in any of my memorials as 'fact', then if possible try to include some sources. Preferably varifiable sources like census records, death certificates, birth records, military registrations, immigration records, obits,...you get the picture. Most all that stuff is readily available to check online from several reliable sites that post them. And sure, I realize some of it varies in it's content and is subject to some interpretation at times, but it's a source just the same. And of course, old family bibles and family letters are excellent sources too. Even if you get your info second hand from so and so who's a relative of so and so who did some research way back in 19..., then go ahead and tell me that. It's always better than no source at all. And many times, I will credit you as the source of the information you give because, I've had instances where someone contacted me later wanting to know where that info came from. So, that way if they have questions or differences, they can discuss it with you. You might even meet a distant cousin you never knew you had.
And please remember, there's no reason why we can't all be courteous, mature and respectful to each other in our edit & link requests, comments and inquiries, even if we differ. Doesn't have to be a lot of over the top, flowery stuff, just simple, respectable pleasantry. I've found things like "thank you" at the end of your messages always set a good tone for people to respond to your inquires and requests more positively. Or, "Thank you for your help!". You can even open with "Hi'" if you so choose. And of course, there's no need for insults, pretentiousness, condescension or hostility. Most of us don't want or deserve that and nothing positive comes of it anyway. If you try to practice common courtesy, then 'most' of the time people will reciprocate that courteous tone. And even if they don't, well, that's just one person who may be having a bad day anyway. There's no need to get angry and combative with them (That's what some of them expect actually). Either don't respond or if you do, just state your position (without anger), move on and be courteous to the next person and chances are 'they' will be courteous back.

Please remove the obituary you posted in the picture section of this memorial. Find A Grave rules are against this. I had that obit and only posted what I wanted, Benny was an adopted child so info on parents etc does not apply. | | | Susan C

I saw a newspaper obit you posted to Grover Hood at the Springhill Cemetery in Springhill La # 73358735 on find a grave and I would like to know if you know anything about the family of his wife Jo Ann Cannon and her parents. The Cannon's are my mothers family but I do not have Jo Ann and family connected yet. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

From your memorial I've found descendants who state her maiden name was Young. Although the location of her parents place of burial and their actual burial names seems rather odd.
Anyway, if this includes your line (or if you simply love research, as I do), the records I found include children with their birth and death dates, but no married name, nor place of burial... so far I could only find Lillian (and I've yet to confirm -- as a fact -- her place of burial).
If you'd like me to forward the simple list of the other three children, with their birth and death dates so you can see what you can find... just let me know, I'll be happy to do so.
Meanwhile, thank you very much for finding Ida Mae... and for all your findAgrave work!

Her parents are William Claude Shelton Find A Grave# 64632010 & Nancy Mahala Gullick Find A Grave# 64632037 (this is my Great Grand Aunt sister to my great grandmother Vivian).
