|sherry bean||RE: JD Brown Burial|
Thank you and I hope so too. I plan to go back to the cemetery in the fall. Please let me know what you find out
|sherry bean||JD Brown Burial|
I made it to the Greenwood Cemetery last week. I only had a few hrs. there but I am wondering about
a row of gravesites that are at the very front of the cemetery at the intersection of Western, Beryl and C. St. These graves run between Section 47 And 46 . These graves are numbered on the map as 46 47 48 49 and so on. They are not shown as being in a section only a row of numbered gravesites.
I looked up some of the graves in that row and they are listed as "lots" but the section as RESUB. What does resub mean?
Also at the top end of this row there are 2 stones that are homemade and they have a cross and the year 1904 on them?? Any ideas??

I am following a story on Facebook from a lady who obtained a purse from a charity organization. When she opened the purse she found a picture of a man with two little girls and a case with a Purple Heart ribbon and medal inside. The Purple Heart is inscribed with the name James F. Sneed on it. I am reaching out to others that have contact with grave sites, memorial information, etc., to find family members who may want to take possession of this medal and the picture. If you have ever came across this name and know of or can find out if the deceased individual was a Purple Heart recipient, the woman's name on Facebook is Carrie Lynch-Myers. Any help you may be able to give or if you can forward this information to others perhaps we can track down the proper family members and return this medal to them.
My user name on Facebook is Debra M. Griner if you need further information or you may reach me at email@example.com. Thank you.

Please send me an email address so I can forward the obit to you. Scanned photo will not work for this. Sue

What a tragedy for this family! And, I notice that the mother apparently died in childbirth.
Obits add so much to the memorial, so I included them for each person, crediting you.
Again, thank you so much for your contribution.

Scout, thank you so much for your reply!! I will try to procure the photo from the history center.....yes, she was beautiful in more ways than one; she and her sibs were part of one of the first families in rural Bossier Parish, and many of my cousins still live around there. I did notice that Robert Carl Strayhan was listed as a sib, but don't think this is fact. I knew all my aunts and uncles and he was not part of the family. Do you have a private email? Pls let me know. Regards, Ruth

Thanks so much for sending me her obit. Didn't they write them elegantly in that era? Almost wish they were still written like that today. It takes a real gift with words, doesn't it? Since it said she lived 25 years I put in at least a birth year for her.
please tell me where you found the picture of Connie Audrey Strayhan Boggs, sibling of Clark H Strayhan WWI soldier. Audrey Boggs was my mother and I have never seen this photo. Thank you very much, Ruth

What is the numbered section called? And where is it located in the cemetery?
