Bio Photo My father got me involved in genealogy 30 years ago, so I've trekked through many cemeteries across some of the most overgrown terrain imaginable in South Carolina, Alabama and North Carolina. I understand the need for documentation and information from tombstones and preservation of family history, and it's very comforting to just having a photo of a family member's or friend's grave when its hundreds of miles away.

I retired a couple of years ago, and am now trying to become a more active part of this cause.

RE: Samuel L. McConnell Photo
For some reason he's got a CSA service star in front of his marker, but he died almost 10 years before the war. I clipped the star out of the photo since it was obviously put there by accident by someone.

Hi Jennett,
You ask about the picture of the ruins on Robert De Beaumont memorial. Today I have added the description. Click on the picture and there is now a caption under the picture.

RE: Robert Pooser
You are very welcome.

it is odd how things work out sometimes. I believe there were about 13 or 14 photo requests for Holy Cross Cemetery that i decided to fulfill and as I took the photos I realized that i knew at least three of the deceased persons.

if I can assist you in any other way do not hesitate to call upon me. I will do whatever i can to help.

Your friend

RE: Margie & Ira Pooser
You are very welcome.
I have also just finished fulfilling your request for a photo of the grave of their their son Robert Pooser.
Many years ago I knew a City of Charleston police officer named Pooser and if memory serves me his name was Ira, Could your cousin Ira be the Pooser that I knew, or be related to him? He was a motorcycle cop and was the terror of all of us teen age kids in the 1950's

If I can assist you in any other searches in my area feel free to call upon me.

RE: Celeste Thompson
Hi,

The name spelling keeps it fun. I have spelling issues on both sides of my family. It has caused a lively discussion at one or two reunions that I remember as a child.

Thanks

Paul

RE: Celeste Thompson
Hi,

I didn't shoot any others as it was beginning to rain. I have wondered why they would have such nice headstones for the family (Check out Jemima A Thomson plus 3 others with the same last name) and realized the spelling difference. Jemima's headstone clearly states Celeste C Feagan Thomson as her mother. I checked find a grave with the different spelling and have found Celeste C Thomson and John Benjaman Thomson as buried in Spring Gully Cemetary and there is a photo. Since there are also Feagan's buried in the cemetary it is probably a family area.

Long story short Celeste is listed twice in two different cemetaries with different spelling. I suspect they were added to Antioch as it appears they should be buried by their 2 daughters and his parents (and the name was mis-spelled). However the grave marker is at Spring Gully.

Happy Hunting and hope this helps.
