fm Vickie McCracken:
*Nor does Mary mention the name of Cornelius' first wife in the application…she does, however, provide a recent (1892) re-copy of her remarriage record, endorsed by the Effingham Co, IL county clerk. She apparently married Micager Hamilton on Christmas day 1877 in that county.
I looked at my notes, and I did not have a source. It seems apparent that I must have copied it from a source on Ancestry. Are you a member? If not, I can provide you my notes on this family.

|David Derks||Wood family in KCMO|
My name is David Derks, in live in Kansas City, MO. I have been researching my family, along with a , still alive relative , trying to find background on William Finch Mead who was born in New York and also buried there in Banksville Conn/NY. For some reason he lived in New Orleans, La and we think was an school teacher.
He married Mary Catherine Wood in 1858 and had three sons, William, Edwin, and John. John being born in Ill. (?) There was also a daughter by a first wife Ester?, Emeline about 13 at the time ( 1858 ), she died soon after of typhoid.
Anyway, back to Mary Catherine Wood/Mead. I believe her was the daughter of Aseneth Wood. Born about 1830/31 in New York.
I cannot find out how or why she was in New Orleans. I think she was a teacher. Also, I believe she returned to ILL./Iowa, mother, to die. Cannot find grave.
Sons were sent to New York to live with Aunt Abigail Mead. At 16 or 17, William and Edwin left for Kansas City to contact an uncle, L H Wood.
I have family letters to verify.
Any input would be appreciated.
By way, thanks for letting me use the picture.

Thanks for sharing the mystery solution - Sally Seymour. Just curious and so I can label some of my photos. Who is the Lydia Emma on the north side of the monument and is her husband there also? I like to get photos of stones that are weathering like this one. Bob Lerch

|R Lerch||Pecks in Graceland|
There are three stones in the lot in Section A of Graceland cemetery. Photos for Lida and Joseph (died in 1935) have been posted. The other stone is a monument that is weathered. Each of the four sides has individuals listed. Nathan and Aurilla (east side) are posted. The others are less easily determined. I will send you pictures. A better attempt at photographing the north side might help on that side (perpetual shade). Regards, Bob Lerch

thank you so much. I have been all over that site and could not find anything. I even talked to my last Aunt, who is 80. All she could remember were two of Marie's brothers names. She was only 13 when her mother died. Now I have some where to begin. Welcome to the family. this family just keeps getting bigger and bigger. The family loves your pictures. Thanks for sharing them.
