You are very welcome. I'm working on transcribing and uploading obits from New Iberia to the LAGenWeb New Iberia page.
Have a great Wednesday,

you are so welcome, easy when you give location. Will be happy to get the ones in St. John if you can add location. I am still looking just taking some time.
|Debbie G Morrogh||Martinez continued|
And La Death records lists her name as Martinez and not Martinet.
|Debbie G Morrogh||Arthimeas Begnaud Martinet #136633829|
St John Burial records list her name as MARTINEZ. Her great grandson's obit states it is Martinez.. Greg D. has in her bio a mention that it is Martinez. There is no headstone photo of her grave so I've sent a photo request for one. Her husband is not listed in the book as having a funeral there or being buried there. Hopefully there is a headstone in place that will clarify the surname spelling.

Thanks! I'm not done uploading pics yet but I got sidetracked on another cemetery. I'll get back to it in a few days.

Thanks for the wonderful memorial for Marguerite. The obituary states she died the Saturday before publication which would make her date of death December 27, 1902. Do you have more information that would shed light on this descrepancy? Also, the DOBR Vol 3, 1804-1819, p. 834 gives her birth date and location a follows: "Marguerite (Etienne and Anne Daigle) bn. 10 Aug 1807 bt. 3 July 1808 spo. Jean Daigle and Marguerite Simonuau (ASM-6,134)". This would make her around 95 when she died (still impressive). I couldn't find any other birth records in that volume that would fit her.

Sebastian, we now have four separate listings showing that the paternal grandparents of William Henry Bassett Jr., Joseph Carter Bassett, Thomas Jefferson Bassett and Benjamin Harrison Bassett were Carter Bassett and Martha Davis. You've helped us tremendously. Can you tell us your source for the names of their grandparents? Thanks. -- Bill
|William Orr||Joseph Carter Bassett|
In my family is an ancient mystery that no one has been able to unlock conclusively. We've never been able to figure out the identity of Joseph Carter Bassett's paternal grandparents. But here in plain view is their names at this site that you apparently created. Can you please tell me how I might locate the original source of your information, so that I might confirm it for myself? We used circumstantial evidence to deduct that his paternal grandfather was named Carter Bassett (full name Benjamin Carter Bassett); I had no idea who his paternal grandmother was. It was a fourth cousin of mine that alerted me to the names at your findagrave entry. I hope you don't mind my asking. But you might have helped us more than you know in unlocking a mystery that has stumped Bassett family descendants for many decades. Thank you. -- Bill Orr
