Born and raised in Lewis and Maury County, Tennessee. Member of the National Society of Children of the American Revolutionary War.
Maury Co., Tn has many historical cemeteries. Many Rev. War soldiers are buried in Maury Co./Lewis Co. Tn., also many Civil War Generals, War of 1812, and their soldiers.
Cemetery preservation is very important to me and I try to list from actual cemetery visits and various book listings. I have been working with Wayne Austin for the last 10 years as a volunteer contributor for his project.
Please, e-mail me with any corrections or additional information that needs to be posted at any Maury County Cemetery where you see my name via the edit option on the memorial.
If I have posted a close relative of yours let me know and I will transfer. Please use the edit option on the memorial for updates, corrections and questions, my responce will be much faster, I don't have to look up the memorial by name that way.

|charles howell||John Mary Scott Mayes|
Mary Bob, JMSM is my relative. His mother was Mary Scott, daughter of Colonel John Scott and wife Mary Hannah McCorkle. Mary Scott was born about 1795 while the family was then living on the Monocacy River near Taneytown Maryland. The family moved to Watauga in then North Carolina (now Tennessee) in 1778. Mary married Samuel Mayes in 1795 in Piney Flats (Southwest Territory) Tennessee and moved to near Ninety Six South Carolina. Colonel John Scott's beloved (slave?) and War companion "Daddy Ben" was reluctantly allowed to accompany and take care of Mary. In 1796, Mary Scott Mayes gave birth to John Mary Scott Mayes, but in doing so, died in childbirth. Samuel Mayes remarried Mary Frierson in 1797 in South Carolina. Daddy Ben Scott Mayes continued to live with the Mayes family. In about 1805, a large congregation of Presbyterians from South Carolina, including now Doctor Samuel Mayes' family, moved just west of Columbia, Maury County, Tennessee. They formed Zion Presbyterian Church. At the entrance gate to the Zion Church Cemetery, there is a granite monument detailing the heroics of "Daddy Ben" Scott when he accompanied John Scott and the Sullivan County Militia to fight the British during the Revolutionary War. Daddy Ben was captured by the British and hung three times to near suffocation but refused to tell where John Scott and the Sullivan Militia could be found. If further information is needed, please contact me at email@example.com.
|Shirley Wadell||RE: Reuben Hill|
According to the data on Ancestry, Andrew William Hill b.1797-1876 buried at Reuben Hill Cemetery married his cousin Sarah 'Sallie' Joyce Hill on Aug 19, 1825 Maury TN, supposedly they had 3 girls and 1 son [I have 4 girls and 1 son listed -- Mary Joyce Hill b.Nov 22, 1827 Maury TN; Martha Jane Hill b. Dec 25, 1829 Maury TN; Margaret Ester Hill b. Sept 28, 1834 Maury TN; William Reuben Hill; Minerva A. Hill b. Feb 2, 1832 Maury TN].
Sarah's parents are listed as Reuben Hill[1833-1861] & Joyce 'Joicey' Hanks. I have not found documentation to prove this fact.
Thank you, Shirley :)

My husband is descended from James K. Pollock. I see that he is the oldest person buried in the Pollock Cemetery. My research indicates that he was born in North Carolina. Do you have any information about his birthplace or parents?
|Tim Johnson||Finis Kirkland "Woodrow" Hill|
Noticed you are looking for help with his parents dates. They lived down the street at 397 Williford, Memphis TN. His father: Eugene William Hill born: 23 Nov 1892, died: 26 Jun 1959. He was a swithman for the railroad and fell from a boxcar. Buried Memorial Park Memphis TN. I was to young to know him. His wife Hattie Irene Hill would give out walnuts for Halloween. His death certificate list his father as Finis Hill and his mohter as Greasy Hudson. I'll put a copy of his death cert on Finis Kirkland Hill page if you'd like or his if you make a memorial for him.

|Tim Parker||RE: Lankford & Cooper|
Mary Bob, yes but, is Catharine Melvina (Melvira) Cooper their daughter? She was the wife of Moses Lankford. A couple of trees on "family search" say she was their daughter. And if so, then she is my 3rd ggrandmother. And, I think I found where she & Moses are buried, but I have no solid proof of this as of yet. Look for Lankford Cem.,Dickson Co.,TN. Thanks, Tim
|Tim Parker||Lankford & Cooper|
Mary Bob, my 2nd great-grandparents were Joseph A. Parker b.1824,Dickson Co.,TN-d.about 1882 & Jemima Lankford b.1828-d.1860,Dickson Co.,TN. Her parents (my 3rdgreat) were Moses Lankford b.about 1802 NC-d.1863 Dickson Co.,TN & Catharine Melvina (or Melvira) Cooper b.Aug.1809 SC-d.about 1904 Dickson Co.,TN. Her parents were Hugh Cooper b.1771 Chester Co.,SC-d.between 1861-1865 Mississippi & Catharine Brakefield. Hugh's parents were Capt.Robert Cooper & Jane Hamilton. All that came from the website "family search". I saw that you also came from Robert's line. I believe that Joseph A. & Jemima are buried at a Lankford Cem.,Dickson Co.,TN that I added to findagrave. Am I right about Catharine being the daughter of Hugh Cooper? Thanks, Tim
Do you know the maiden name of David Anderson's wife Nancy. David is son of Richard Anderson. They lived in Hickman Co Tn.
|Jim L Wilson||Ephraim McLean, jr|
Hello: I saw the memorial you created for Ephraim McLean, jr, # 8553727 in Snow Creek Farm Cemetery, Maury County, TN.
I was wondering if this is the same Ephraim McLean in Lincoln County, NC. I found an Ephraim McLean in the 1790 census there. The reason I am asking is that Ephraim McLean was a witness to William Wilson-Isabelle Graham's marriage in 1792 in Lincoln County and I was just wondering if there was a connection. Thanks.
|W girl||M. C. Campbell's|
Father, 11069122, and son, 130853667, have Clemson spelled differently. Do you have any information about which is correct? And do you know if any of the Campbell family is still in the area around Spring Hill? My great-aunt, Amelia, was married to Bruce, and I have been planning to make a trip up there to see the area.
Thanks so much,
