My original intent was to only add family members here, but have branched out. If anyone has any sourced info that is in conflict with what is posted, please send it to me, and I will edit what is here. |
There are some FAG volunteers that believe cemetery records and grave markers are the Holy Grail of information-they are not. They are only reliable for date and place of death, and sometimes that is wrong. Everything else is subject to an informant who sometimes knows little or nothing about the deceased's history - not to mention typos or bad handwriting on cemetery cards and/or death certificates.

Could I transfer her to you? I'm not related.

You're certainly welcomed, Gaye...and the day was beautiful for visiting the Conants!

I'm glad you got to see the ranch and visit with the Brittinghams. Jeanne has been absolutely essential in bringing together and preserving the history of the Park Springs and of its families. Please do go back as often as you can, because there is so much to learn and enjoy.

Dear Ms Funk,
I was doing a little historical research and came across the "Find a Grave" information on John Conant. I grew up on the Park Springs Ranch, which had been the Whitmore ranch called Gallinas Springs. When I was a boy, sometime in the late 1950's, John Conant came to the ranch to see it. Unfortunately my parents were not there, but my older brother and I had a great visit with him and learned much about how the place looked back in the late 1800's and early 1900's. He told us he was born at the Coyote Spring, where is family was at the time. The Coyote Spring is about three miles from Gallinas Springs, on the other side of the Gallinas River. His parents intended to be at the Whitmore place for the birth, but the river was in flood stage, so they returned to Coyote Spring and he was born there.
I thought you would like to know this almost forgotten detail about Mr Conant.
Thanks very much,
Myles Culbertson email@example.com

I lost all my information I had on my database.
Which included all the census records and bits of information I had added.
My lap top just quit. Got a new lap top and in the process of doing all over again.
i did have the census records for John Mink and that he was an independent Calvary in the Civil War and lots most of his men and later joined another group.
Will try to re-establish all my infromationfrom what i have alresdy put online
Thanks for reminding me of his accomplishments

Thanks for the information. I understand the local Priest added Jose or Maria to every child's name.
My husband's sister didn't know her name was Maria Clara instead of Clara, until a few years ago She used the name Clara all her life
I appreciate your helping in the New Mexico line.
My husband is no help :)
Thank you for the correction! Can you tell me if Arthur and Frederick served in the Civil War?

Some of our contributors due the minimum and think that it is acceptable (38471696). Unfortunately, in this case, I might be talking about myself also. I added this one from the plot sheet but never got back to doing some research until tonight. I do know for sure that the grave is unmarked. I know we are not suppose to duplicate, but I am going to leave mine since I have so much more info in it. Thanks for the notification that there was another memorial.

Sorry I couldn't help more. At one time I added who sent the info to me to add, then someone fussed about that so I stopped. It irrigates me too when people use the flower section for bios instead of sending it to be added to bio.

Hi....if you look in the virtual flowers you will see one left by Janet LaMotte with bio information in it (which is against Find A Grave protocol). I copied this info to the bio section so that it would not get lost if the flower was deleted by Janet or by Find A Grave. You might check with her as to where the info came from.
