There are some FAG volunteers that believe cemetery records and grave markers are the Holy Grail of information-they are not. They are only reliable for date and place of death, and sometimes that is wrong. Everything else is subject to an informant who sometimes knows little or nothing about the deceased's history - not to mention typos or bad handwriting on cemetery cards and/or death certificates.

Calvin Bowden
Do you have any way to check on Calvin Bowden in Pleasant Grove Baptist Cemetery? The US service marker has shown up on Facebook and a couple of people have entered entries for him using that info.

One of them shows the above cemetery as where his grave is, and there are lot of graves for that family, but none predating the finding of his bronze US service plaque.

https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=1077854835586557&set=a.105111162860934.4354.100000861537548&type=3&theater

Here is the one in question. If you search all the Calvins there is another entry made by someone on 5/13/2016 as well with different info.

http://findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSln=bowden&GSfn=calvin&GSbyrel=all&GSdyrel=all&GSob=n&GRid=162535296&df=all

Since you did a lot of the Bowdens there, maybe you know who to check with, or can go look for his grave and refer the person above with the info of who to return the marker to.

thanks

RE: Velma Jean White Marion
Thank you so much for clearing up Lorine and Corine as twins.

I had followed the Charles Pennington route as Velma's grandfather but I was confused by Corine.

I will keep searching for Velma's mother to add to this memorial.

I appreciate your help.

Velma Jean White Marion Find A Grave Memorial# 156432837
Hello,

You left an edit for Velma Jean White Marion (memorial# 156432837) asking me to delete her mother Lorina Jennie Mitchell (memorial# 32207810).

Please explain why the information would not be correct so I can understand your request.

Are these two individuals related to you?

All information I have suggests these two are mother and daughter.

Thank you for your time.

RE: Edward Williams
Gaye,
This is not pleasant; they have nothing to do with one another. The reason there is a stone with several names is because the original owners of this cemetery resold the plots many times over and when later this was discovered and after all of the lawsuits were settled the foundation made up these stones for as many of the names as they could find on the abandon headstones.

Go to my messages and follow down several & see some of the story. Also go to the cemetery on Find A Grave & look at the pictures.

I got involved last year when someone wanted a photo of her infant Brother. We finally found it buried 2 feet deep next to a wall, but the stone was in great shape as it was not exposed to the elements. Often I take pictures of random gravestones while on a photo request.

I am in Hawaii right now & doing just that! It is a chore as many of these cemeteries are not in good shape & some are extremely hard to find!

Good luck with your adventures.

Gordon Gross
You now say "Hi - there is no "may be" the son of Aaron Grodsky - he IS the son of Aaron Grodsky. He is one of nine documented children, all male."

But earlier today you said "I believe this to be one of Aaron Grodsky's (#151738949) many sons." There is a difference.

Gordon's death date came from the cemetery's records. I am not much interested in what Ancestry trees say when there is not any documentation.
