|Amanda Neil||William and Dinah Hall|
Hello Elizabeth. I am trying to contact living descendants of William and Dinah Hall who lived in NZ as first missionary familes from 1814 -1825 before returning to Australia. I would like to see the efforts of the Halls recognised in the place they lived at Oihi Bay, NZ. At present there are only memorials to the work of the King and Hansen families. The Halls and the Kendalls have been so far ignored, and yet they were there first.
There is a big celebration of the bicentennial of these missionary families arrival in 2014, and this would be an ideal opportunity to make the work of all the families known and honoured. At the moment NZ history concentrates mostly on Samuel Marsden who gets most of the credit and who definitely does not deserve it! Hoping you can put me in touch with some modern day descendants ASAP, as I am attending a planning conference on this subject at Waitangi in NZ from Nov 27th-Nov29th 2012. Thank you.
