Im often exploring those off the beaten path places. Im not gothic or into death nor am I phychic or see ghosts. I am just simply interigued by the untold stories of cemetary residents. I enjoy taking photos and trying to uncover the lil bits and peices of life that are left behind on a small patch of ground.

Id be more than happy to assist someone with a photo or if they cant make it a visit.

Feel free to rearrange the photos to your liking. Meet a relation to you while I was there. She said that she was Christopher's cousin.

Assumption Cemetery
Hi,

I live quite close to Assumption and will be happy to take a picture of your relative's grave. I am happy to take flowers from my garden as well and make sure it is clean. The marker I mean. It is a lovely cemetery. I go by there at least 2 times a day.

Regards,

Heidi Dauwalter

RE: Joseph Byles
I am in Tulsa but do graving in Rogers, Tulsa, and Wagoner counties. I have come across some real interesting old cemeteries whose members walked the Trail of Tears. In one, the gravesite was covered with large stones. They were meant to keep the Union soldiers from robbing the grave. Lots of history in those old cemeteries, too bad people don't show them the respect they deserve.

Cemeteries
I live near Tulsa but have been searching the old cemeteries in Rogers, Wagoner, and Tulsa county. I have photographed three cemeteries whose interred people walked the Trail of Tears many, many years ago. One of the Indian cemeteries I photographed was near a lake and was not fenced in. Idiots had broken the headstones and trashed the place, it was a mess. At the Chambers cemetery in Rogers county, I found a gravesite that had been covered in massive boulders. The story is that the woman's husband had covered it in stones to keep Civil War soldiers from looting her grave. At another one, the cemetery was fenced in but a brother was not allowed to be buried in the fenced in area. He had sided with the Union army and was considered an outcast. If you check my Civil War virtual cemetery on my page, read the bio on Henry Potter. He was a relative who had died in Andersonville Prison and I had the information in my family history book.

RE: Joseph Byles
Thank you for the information. I had the info in a family history book. Bless you for wanting to clean up the cemetery. I have found several old cemeteries in Oklahoma that were not well taken care of. After going to fulfill a photo request in the first one, I learned to carry trash bags, rakes, brushes, etc. in my truck to clean up the area before taking photos. Sad that these places are not tended to, we should honor our ancestors not forget them. Red
