I have been interested in genealogy for about thirteen years. I became interested when I found most of the research had already been done on my mother's side of the family going back for centuries. Until then, I had only speculated about my ancestry. I do some traveling with my job and as luck would have it, it is in an area where most of my relatives are buried (on Mom and Dad's side). It validates their existence and a link to my heritage. I love to pass that along to someone else who may also be looking, but is just too far away. Famous ancestors in my tree are "Jack Daniels" 1st cousin 4 times removed as well as the Majors family "Tennessee Vols" and Robert Burns "the poet". After finding my family cemetery, I joined with other descendants to restore our ancestors final resting place. My GGGGrandfather James B. Gowen is a veteran of the War of 1812.
