Douglas question
Hi: Having read both accounts of William as to where he's born (England or Scotland), I would like to know which is correct? I'm descended from Robert through the Chappell line in New London.

I want to thank you and everyone else who contributes to this excellent site and without you all, much of this history would be lost.

Douglas
I have read with interest the notes on the Douglas Clan which are posted on findagrave. It seems you do a lot of the note posting. I found it interesting that one person does not believe that William, husband of Anne Mattle/Motley was the son of Robart and Jean Ross Douglas. So many online researchers report that he was. Do you know of any documentation to prove or disprove this?

Also, I an working on an Alexander Douglas who married Agnes Leslie. He was born abt 1562 in Scotland. Some researchers have him as a son of William and Egidia Graham Douglas. However, most online sources which I found on google do not list him as a son. There are a lot of very official Douglas sites....but I don't know how accurate any are. There are SO MANY in the Clan that it is difficult to trace. I am NOT a descendant but am helping a friend trace her roots. It my research is correct, she is the 10th great grand daughter of William and Egidia Douglas. Any thoughts that might help in my search wuuld be greatly appreciated.

Children of William Douglas (1610-1682)
Hello: I am a descendent of an Ann (Douglas)Geery (b. ~1637)whom I suspect is a daughter of William Douglas (1610-1682). Could you arrange for Mr. B. H. Howes (see his e-mail in the entry for Ann Mattle Douglas, 1601-1685 in Find-A-Grave) to post the names of William's children? I don't have Mr. Howe's e-mail number myself.

Thanks!

Asa Douglas
I just discovered the memorial for my 5th great grandfather, Asa Douglas, with your flower and message noting that he is your 6th great grandfather. It's always amazing to discover people who have an ancestor in common with me. I'm descended from Asa and Rebecca Douglas through my paternal grandfather's line, from Asa's son Wheeler Douglas and grandson Stephen Van Rensselaer Douglas.
