Hi, I am Billy .......|
(Last updated 16 Dec 2012)
Due to my Dad's death, I have taken over my dad's work on the Womble Family Tree. The Family tree goes back to the 1600's when the Wombles(Wombwell) came over from England to Virginia.((( Some of the first settlers of this family name or some of its variants were: Thomas Wombwell who settled in Virginia in 1648 ))) Sometime in the early 1700's the Wombles move to Edgecombe County, NC.
Edgecombe became a County 1741
Nash become a County 1771
Wilson become a County 1855
These are the 3 main Counties for the Womble
(The early years) ....
John Womble b.1756/d.1821
OFF of John William Womble b.1837/d.1904:
There are very few "Womble" (name Womble) left in Edgecombe County from the blood line. There is a lot of, next to kin, still there farming the home stead.
The Family Tree is not just of the Womble but it goes in all direction. You can follow the links I made on Fine A Grave. My dad did not take pictures of any headstones. SO, since I am out there anyway, why not take pictures of other headstones.
The County I will be going to is Harnett, Johnston, Wilson, Nash and Edgecombe, all in NC.
These are the main Counties.
I made this line for family members who would like to trace their family ancestry.
I prefer you to send me information on Find A Grave Memorial. Once I know there is an interest on that person, I will add the information and add some other information that I can find and sometimes I will start a family member search.(Trace their family tree) I love doing this and I do this for free.
Please do not ask for a Transfer just to own it.
Please add or contact me if you have family photos .......

I am researching the Grice/Barnes/Wiggs/Talton families of NC. Are you any relation to these? I noticed you set up listings for the Grice Family Cemetery without photos. My mother-in-law is a direct relative of those buried in that cemetery. She has taken some photos of them. I would be happy to provide photos and detailed info to go with each one. I am also looking for relatives whom we can start corresponding with to do research since I am just starting on her line and noticed you posted the Grice gravestones. Let me know if you are interested.
Thank you in advance,

Where did you get the Bible Pages and infro for Rowland Wiggins?

Are you still active? I have made change requests that have not been acted on.

I am a descendant of Rowland Wiggins. I found info about him on Find-a-Grave. I saw where you listed his children's names from his family Bible. What was you source for this info? I am in the process of joining DAR and need to have a document source for the info.

Was your Dad Tommy?
I got an email in '08 from a cousin who said she got a paper from Tommy Womble in NC.
The paper is hand Typed and the top says Ernest Womble
(Son of John Washington Womble/Caroline Richardson)
Under that is info about the Family and says that Rhoda Caroline Richardson Womble's Father was a Doctor who drowned in the Wabash river in Indiana. She was adopted by Family named Claybourne in Nashville, TN.
I am wondering who the original source is for this paper.
Thought I'd take a chance and ask you-

Thanks Billy. I'll work on it as well and keep you updated.

Do you know the location of the cemetery where John was buried in Wilson county and two: do you know where his farm was in Edgecombe county?
I am descended from his son John Washington Womble b. 1815
ah- I guess I have three.... Do you think his son Nathaniel Green Womble was named for the war hero or because on the Green side they might be related?

I'm not sure how to use all of the tools available on Find a Grave. My great grandfather was James Henry Womble. He is in Find a grave. He was born in Tennessee in 1862 and died in Texas in 1946. He was buried in Brownwood, Texas. That's as far back as I have been able to trace my direct line on my father's side of the family. I have looked at the Wombles of Tennessee and cannot be certain that any are related to James Henry Womble. Do your records show any connection to James Henry? Thanks for any information that you may have.
