"I walk through a damp graveyard hoping that there will be a headstone for the stranger I am looking for. I am on a mission to photograph the marker at the request of a stranger in search for his or her kindred dead. Why? Perhaps this stranger is the one who in paying forward what I have done will touch the stranger who will fill my request for help in finding my kindred dead. And I do it because I know it is important to someone else who may never have a chance to travel here to see for his or herself." (Borrowed)
I grew up in Waterloo, IA and graduated from East High in 1956. My Sorensen, Jensen and Rasmussen Danish ancestors settled in the area in the 1890's. Currently I'm trying to complete some family genealogy for as many ancestors as possible.
There are also Wetzsteins, Strandemos, Halvorsons, Marlings and Melicks in our family trees from Iowa, Minnesota & Illinois mostly.(Danes, Norwegians and Germans )The Marlings and Melicks can be traced back to the 1700's in the eastern U.S.
Any help with these family branches will be greatly appreciated. Also , please send corrections for any errors noted or requests for removal/transfers. To add a bio please request a transfer.
The flowers I add are mostly photos of Marilyn's blooms from our yard.
Help with my Evergreen Memorial project would be appreciated. Documenting the entire cemetery will take more than two summers. I only manage about 10-12 headstones per hour. Most stones need significant edging before photos can be taken. Currently over 2900 out of 4,000 plus. South side of drive is now completed. As of Nov 2012 I no longer edge the stones, just remove enough of the growth and leaves to read the names and dates.
New addition of St Mary's in N St Paul has been completed during our mild Dec weather of 2011. (592 entries)
Lakeview (adjacent to Evergreen in Mahtomedi)(2100+)99% completed June 3, 2012.
To transfer an entry to yourself please click the 'suggest a correction' item above the memorial when viewing the person you would like to have transferred.
I will no longer randomly search cemeteries that refuse to provide locations to Findagrave members. Locations must be provided by the requestor. This now includes Forest Lawn in Maplewood and likely St Johns in Little Canada. Please call or visit the cemetery office to get a location.

 | Jerry Johannessen Wayne,
I was able to photograph Jerry's grave marker and add to his memorial. However, Jerry is not at Shrine of Remembrance, he is buried in Evergreen Cemetery in Section 19A, Lot 145.

 | William Lee Sherwood. B. 1919 I am the Grandaughter of William Lee Sherwood & Vera Jean Johnson, my Mother, their daughter, was born Jan 6, 1945, Rebecca Ann Sherwood, I believe she had a brother named Billy, a sister named "Marsha." There were possibly other siblings. My Mother passed-away and becuase she was adopted by Angie Johnson, she did not know her Sherwood family well, I so long to find them and to know their names. If you have any information, especially a photo of William Lee Sherwood, I would very much appreciate it.
Thanks,
Patricia Jacqueline Leeson Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

 | RE: James Jirak Thank you so much for your effort, but the wrong parents. I need his parents to be George and Pearl McCloud Jirak. Their children are James (1937-2011) of Waterloo, Larry of Waterloo and Donald of Evansdale. | | | Theresa Korth
 | James Jirak I am looking for info on the James Jirak family. We have ties to his mother Pearl McCloud Jirak originally from Dixon county Nebraska. I was hoping to find Pearl and her husband Georges' grave stone also in Mount Olivet cemetery. Would love to make contact with Larry or Donald Jirak to update family history on the McCloud side. Thanks, Theresa Korth | | | ecila
