Funny enough, she is a distant cousin of mine, as well.

Yes it does. When I began doing research on my ancestry, my main goal was to find family members who fought for Virginia. One ancestor that was of particular interest to me was a young teenage boy name Alexander Bott. He was killed in action at the Battle of Cedar Mountain on August 9, 1862. His relationship to me was a 1st cousin 3x removed. I have heard from some of my family members about his demise over the years and it really peaked my interest. Alexander had 2 brothers, Charles and Joseph, and a 1st cousin who served with him in the 42nd VA Infantry. When I came across this particular photo, I thought it would make a nice tribute for them. I personally call it "Company E. 42nd VA Infantry.

Thanks for pointing out that glaring typo on my grandfather's birth date. Those things endure for far too long sometimes!
