Hello from New Mexico.|
I've been excavating and cataloging pioneer cemeteries for over 30 years. In the 1980s I even published a few works on the subject. Like most of you, I'm also an avid genealogist. While I enjoy finding the graves of famous people, I'm more interested in the common soldier and pioneer. Every one of them has a story.
As for genealogy, I am currently working on the surnames Trine, Minter, Dozier, Shackleford and Marquez. I'm also collecting the names and graves of the Maryland 6th Infantry.
I'm usually "on the road," so my photos come from wherever I happen to be. I've had the pleasure of meeting hundreds of wonderful people who share this love for history. Contact me if I can be of any help to you.
ABOUT TRANSFERS: I am happy to transfer anyone who is not my direct ancestor.

I won't upset the person in charge of the memorial any more. If you would send the pictures to me so I can add them to my Ancestry.com record for Elizabeth, I would be grateful. My e-mail is: firstname.lastname@example.org. This one really did try my patience. She still seems to refuse to give Elizabeth her proper name even tho' she had all but one of her children with Thomas Hanthorn. One son was an attorney in Indiana. I have over 20,000 people in my tree - not saying I might not have some errors in a few - starting out we are not always as good or careful as we should be, but time does give us lessons. I correct things when I find them. And when I work in Find A Grave, I have facts in front of me. I have not figured out how to send attachments on this public message site. The source she quoted is one I have had for a long time and one I thought she would not accept. But I did have things I could have sent her. One day, I will be sure Elizabeth has her proper respect and her proper name.
Thanks to both e-mails. And I may make use of your allen co. site. For now I rest assured your tombstone is the one and have her right. It can be confounding!

Is it possible you still have the cemetery pictures for her? If so, would it be possible for you to send them to me?
My e-mail is email@example.com.
I would appreciate having them for my page.
Just an FYI:
The following is a link to a family history which mentions the relationship. Elizabeth Hardesty Colvin Hanthorn's sister, both daughters of Henry Hardesty and Elizabeth Matheny Hardesty, married into the Branstetter family.
I really am not crazy!

Please replace your memorial, as I am sure with all the paperwork that I have, obit, will, censuses, political articles, they are 2 very different ladies, and yes I did file a grievance with Find A Grave on Mary Counts Lichtenwald, this is plain ridiculous to have to go through this day after day, when I already knew that she had not ever remarried BUT..... MCL would not listen, that she is right and all the research that I have already done is wrong and wasted; no I have way too many Is that are dotted and Ts that are crossed. Let me know how it goes.

Thanks so much. May have to take a weekend drive! I feel this person needs to tell me why I am wrong. Perhaps I need to file a grievance. There are census and family history records - she wants marriage records and in Ohio not easy to come by. I am assuming it is a she.

I have tried to find a way to contact someone at the cemetery. Would you know how I might do that?

Any information will be appreciated.

RE: Elizabeth Hardesty Colvin
Yes they have contacted me too; but I said to provide the documentation as this is related to a US vice president's family and it is quite documented as to actual federal documents as well as family; never heard another word.
Sorry I spoke too soon; this person apparently has 2 people mixed up and not being thorough enough in checking the data, I have a daughter but have not located her yet.

I see that you have sponsored the memorial for William, and wondered if you would like me to transfer it to you.

I am still working on this. Dislike these public e-mails. I know the memorial you created had the hanthorn grave site. I am wondering about the Colvin grave site??? Would it be possible for you to give me the information that I might call the cemetery? Or would you research this for me? It is the same cemetery where the Hanthorn family is buried. I am a daughter of a Hanthorn daughter. My 2nd great grandfather, Milton Hanthorn is a brother to Thomas E Hanthorn, husband of Elizabeth. I work on this as I have time. I am very involved in our community and spend a lot of my time volunteering. Thank you for any help you can give me.

I found this today. I am working on the update now. Thanks so much for what you do. I only try to update records as I come across them. At my age, I feel I could not take on the project of creating the new memorials. Thanks again.
