Bio and Links
Bio Photo Born and raised in Fresno, California of Alabama born parents, got into Genealogy in 1997 when I could not figure out what else to do with this computer on-line. I have built up quite a lot of pictures of old shots of Clay County and Jefferson County Alabama. I have visited most of the cemeteries of my ancestors and my Wife's ancestors in Missouri, Oklahoma and Arkansas. A Self-proclaimed Historian with a California Historical society (E Clampus Vitus), I am visiting places of historical interest and with my trusty Dimage , Vivitar and Olympus digital cameras have been taking pictures of headstones at whatever cemeteries we may visit and Historical Monuments in our travels in California, Nevada, Arizona, Utah, Colorado, Washington. In Fresno, I have added the 1919 biographies of early Fresno residents from the Paul E Vandor book titled "The History of Fresno County" to as many listings as I could. If you have something you would like to have added to a Bio, just drop me a line.

I follow FindaGrave rules and usually transfer close relatives within 30 days. You can complain to the FindaGrave administrators if you want, but you will likely find they too have little patience for impatient people.

John Franklin Payne Headstone
Thank you so much for the picture of his headstone in Mountain View Cemetery. He is my great-grandfather on my mother's side. We have been looking for him for many years. He was murdered but no one seemed to know when... The Bee paper gave us his death date a few minutes ago and are doing research for us now....So excited. You will never know what you have done for my family......
Thank you so very much.

RE: Eva M. Henry request
That's fine, no problem, thanks for letting me know.
I got Violet's gravesite all figured out this morning. The office lady misinformed me that no one else was buried in her lot. I went there & checked the names in the last lot of blk 5 then back to the office's books & sure enough it was lot 129. She's between 2 men.
Plan to finish St. Peters today, missed one stone because it had "Angel Fernandez", no Acosta. Luckily I had taken a photo of the site & checked the names on stones against the burial records & found "Angel Fernandez Acosta" in G-18-6 with Luz Soto, 1941-2003.
I'm 99% positive that Bertha Acosta has a son, Guadalupe Acosta buried next to her. I did quite a bit of research on them last night. Are you interested in him too? If so, I'll send it to you.
Well, I've rambled on enough for now. Until later, Lester.

Eva M. Henry
I've been working on the Aggers family & got Eva's headstone photo today with the others. Would you be willing to place a request for me to provide the picture?
Thanks for any help, as always!

Jack MASON #32499039.
This is a copy of original message I send to Teresa D. the person who is now maintaining the memorial you originally created.

This listed Jack Mason; b. 1922 can not be a son of Melvin E. Mason; b. 1931(age), & second he only had 3 children, Gayle; b. 1951, Melvin L.; b. 1953 and Carol; b. 1954. Please correct the relationship.

2nd cousin to Jack.

RE: John Baller at OSH memorial
No, please don't delete any of your pics. They're great! I think you're the first to post any of the circles to Find A Grave. I was just heading out do take some pics of some of the circles, but I didn't want to duplicate efforts if you were going to do lots more. Thanks.

John Baller at OSH memorial
I see you posted a picture of the circle for John Baller from the OSH memorial wall. Was that done just for John Baller or did you have plans to take pics of other names on the wall?

J.W. Van Benschoten
Hi Lester,
A year ago you added a portrait photo to the memorial for John Wesley Van Benschoten (#23623714) along with a nice biographical caption summarizing information you located. Some months ago I asked you where you obtained the photo, but you could not immediately recall the name of its source. By sheer luck, I recently stumbled upon it. The photo was from page 928 of "History of the State of California and Biographical Record of the San Joaquin Valley, California An Historical Story of the State's Marvelous Growth from its Earliest Settlement to the Present Time" by Professor James Miller Guinn, 1905, The Chapman Publishing Co., Chicago. The biographical sketch for J.W. is on page 929. The book is now viewable online as a free e-book. Thought you might be interested.
Regards, J.W. Adams (2nd great-grandson of J.W. Van B.)

RE: Maye Lund Steward
WOW !! Thank you so much for all the information on Maye Lund Steward. Now I'm wondering who my Mother wrote to in Florida while I was growing up. haha There Maye was right in Central California. They were married in Prosser, WA 1917 and my great uncle was 23 yrs old. If the headstone is correct she was 22. If she had lied about her age she would have been 32 when they married. I ask my sister but she only remembers hearing about her and we know our Mother liked her. The headstone was purchased by someone or maybe she preplanned and paid. My husband thinks thats the Eastern Star emblem on it. My great uncle Cec was a mason all his life. Maybe I can find a copy of her death cert. Its always interesting who the informant was. Again thank for all the info you sent me.

Maye Lund Steward
Did you know this woman or did you create this memorial just walking the cemetery? The reason I ask is my great uncle Cecil H Steward was married to a Maye Lund when I was growing up, they divorced and she moved to Florida. She and my Mother use to write letters. I don't know when the letters stopped but I'm wondering if this could be her. Thanks for your help.
