Bio and Links
Bio Photo I wrote the following few paragraphs when I first started researching my tree. They are as true today as they were back then. However, If there's one thing that has shown to be more important than anything else it's teamwork!! No one person can document all the information that needs to be made public. That's why the edit tab at the top of your profile page is so important. Please give a look at that list of entries as often as possible. As you process the entries, visiting the memorial pages and comparing them to your own work is crucial and informative. You'll find family members that you were never able to find before, because now, they've been linked. Genealogy is not fiction, its facts. Facts about every person listed. Check it out, you never know what may have been added since your last visit.

As far as genealogy is concerned, I guess I'm a "newbie" started in 2005. My mother died in April, my step father died in July, and my sister died in October all in 2005. It finally dawned on me that all my history was gone. I've found some great people out there willing to help me to put my "tree" together. I want to give back as much as I've gotten. I take pictures of headstones in cemeteries that I visit and intend to do more. I want to share those photos with anyone who wants to use them.

If I've input some of your family and they are not relatives of mine, I'll gladly transfer them to you. Please use the edit tab on the memorial page to make your suggestions and add your links. The common courtesy of asking for changes and links instead of demanding is appreciated.

I can't stress enough the importance of the edits tab. The edit tab contains a list of corrections or additions that someone else has found for established memorials. Please look at this tab and process the ones listed for you. This is one of best "team" projects for genealogy. Let's all contribute the little pieces of information that everyone else may not have. IT'S ALL IMPORTANT.

Are you a descendant of Emma Biggs? I saw that you added the picture. She is my great great grandmother. I had never been to this website before today. I followed the links and have found so many family members. I was delighted to see a picture on Emma's page. Thank you for the picture!

Apologies-a simple error. The message was meant to go to Mr. Snow. Thanks for your work and efforts on Find-a-Grave.

RE: Virgil Ayres.& Sharp Cemetery
No worries. I didn't take offense.

Those are some of the same pages I printed out way back when, and used them to compare the graves that I found with headstones and the graves that were supposedly relocated but have no headstone. Bakers Forge Cemetery is the one with that problem. Until I can retire from working, that's a project which will just have to wait. LOL

I too have read that some graves were underwater...creeps me out every time we go to the lake. We fish, swim and boat on Norris Lake during the spring and summer, and I always feel a little uneasy that I might be swimming over someone's grave. You probably won't find that piece of historical info at any of the dock's webpages!

Another thing that makes it so hard to compare is that there are several "Sharp" or "Sharpes" Cemeteries in Campbell Co., and the TVA list doesn't say which Sharp Cemetery the new burial was in. So I had to visit each one, being careful to put the correct photos with the correct cemetery.....see what I mean? And all these years later, the spelling has changed. You are right, it is a mess! There are a couple of Sharp's Cemeteries that were in existence during the building of Norris Dam, and none of the burials of either were moved. The lake comes close to one of them, but didn't flood it.

So I guess to answer your question: No, I am not 100% sure that the Virgil Ayers you have is the same Virgil Ayers that I found a headstone for. I had to reconcile myself to that problem early on, and just be satisfied that I could physically confirm that there is a headstone for "x" person in "x" Cemetery, and leave it to a family member to solve the rest of the puzzle.

Sorry I can't help more!

Virgil Ayres.& Sharp Cemetery
Hi there!

My source is the actual headstones that I photographed as I walked the cemetery. That's where I get the names I've put on Find A Grave.

I've taken a look at TVA's lists, and printed them out back in the early 2000's to make sure I was doing Baker's Forge Cemtery correctly, but it's been more than 10 years since I've looked at them. Occasionally I added a name from their list to Baker's Forge, but I've been walking that particular cemetery grave by grave for more than a year now to get photographs of all the headstones....I'm hoping to verify the burials with a headstone photo.

One time, oh I guess it was in 2004 or so, I called TVA to ask about their records from the time they moved graves to Bakers Forge, and the woman I talked to was adament that no mistakes or duplicates were made, Oh no ma'am, she said. They were very very careful not to make mistakes.

Yep. That works every time, right?

Hi, just wanted to let you know that your request to delete excessive photos from memorial cannot be done by me, as I did not add them. You will have to send a request to the contributor of the photo.

Also, if you will type the obit here in messages or send it to me in an edit request, I will be more than happy to add it to his memorial.
