My name is Rita June Collvins Mayfield. I was born February 20, 1942 in Jackson County, Oklahoma. I married Vernon Roy Mayfield on April 16, 1971. My primary hobbies are gardening, oil painting, genealogy and of course cemeteries. There is something comforting about strolling through the cemetery and reading the stones. I have recently moved to Cordell, Oklahoma, but have lived in Oklahoma most of my life. Once an Okie, always an Okie. I am slowly trying to get all my family memorialized here. My virtual cemeteries represent my family, unless otherwise noted. I am going to make them public once again, and hope I can leave them without the misuse that occurred previously.|
If I have a memorial that is anyone in your family, and is unrelated to me or my husband, I will be glad to hand it over to you as I don't adhere to the 4 generation only guideline, just contact me. I count it a joy and a job well done if I am able to pass on your loved one to you. It is my number two reason for doing this, second only to wishing to save all the old and battered stones from being lost forever. If you find errors on any of the information on my memorials, please get in touch with me with corrections. You are welcome to use my tombstone photos on your family files and family trees, just note where you got it.
Please don't post death certificates or census reports in the picture area on my memorials. They don't belong there and are detrimental to the looks of the memorial, plus it takes up room where photos could be placed.

Thanks for the transfer. I will add what I can to the memorial.

My husband comes in through the Carpenter line. Have you seen the "mess" in Jessie Barton's Sugg's links? I've made inquiries to the contributors and they say she was married before and had a son (who is linked) but nothing is mentioned in either Jessie's or the first husband's bio about them being married. And in Essie's bio the contributor has her husband married before with a son (linked) also and nothing is mentioned there either about a previous marriage. Do you know?

Did both mother and daughter die together? Were they buried under one stone and same name?
They are distant relatives of my husband. (I'm beginning to believe he is related to everyone!) I told him if I dig deep enough we'll find out he and I are related!

Oh, my! Sorry to learn about your broken arm. Do take care. Glad you liked the obituary. The NewsLibrary.com has wonderful older obits. I will probably have more later. Best, Kathryn

Thanks for the "shout out" about her obituary. This is a great resource for old obits. I thank fellow graver, Tom Childers, for enlightening me about Gospel Advocate which dates obits back to 1855. The web site is: www.therestorationmovement.com There are oodles of obits not found anywhere else.

Rita, in the Altus Cemetery there is two memorials for AJ Hudson and you put a picture on each grave. I knew the Hudson's their daughter Molly Sue married Cecil Lanning. Molly died a couple of days ago as did her daughter Judy Beth, sad to lose Mother and Daughter, Judy had cancer.
I have done genealogy for year is there anyway you can check with Altus Cemetery and see if AJ Hudson name was Ambrose Joe?
Could you help me.

Thank you for creating and adding photos to my GG Grandparents Bessie, Oklahoma grave. I appreciate you!

Rita - it is nice to hear from someone who is a distant cousin through my Cattaraugus County ancestors...that doesn't happen very often! One of these days I will sit down and do an SAR supplemental application of Ebenezer Reed, as well as those for Cornelius Brooks and his father James Brooks, as well. I have been busy with other lineage societies (I am up to eleven now.)

Thank you, Rita. His name is Carl E Kennedy. He is one of many of my grandmother's children. Most of whom were either still born or died in infancy.
I will link him with his parents and as many siblings as I can. I appreciate your work and the transfer. Cyndy
