For any of us who have been on this site for a while, I am sure you have noticed the same things that are causing me frustrations. Too much pettiness, too many people looking to have the most memorials and too many pop-up advertisements. Sad really as this seemed like such a great idea when I first signed on. The biggest pet peeve of all is disrespect. Keep in mind that you can attract more bees with honey than you can with vinegar...before you send me a nasty note.|
I have not stopped my work on the Confederate section of Old City Cemetery. This is a labor of love and I will not stop til it is complete. If you take photos in the Confederate section to post a memorial here, please check, double check and triple check before posting. There are a lot of errors in the records and a number of the stones are incorrectly marked. Effective immediately, I will be posting memorials for soldiers in the Confederate section based on how their names are written down in the Diuguid records as those records seem to be the most used. I will also post the correct name of any soldier based on unit records or any other information you may pass on to me with the correct spelling of a soldier's name. A HUGE thank you goes out to find-a-grave member LJH for all of the help in correctly identifying the men!

|Carole Tyree||RE: John Tyree|
Hi, going over old messages and found your post. How would I get ahold of the grace street cemetery records or person to see about obtaining more information on the tyree's that are interred there?
|Ted Myers||RE: Acree's Burial,|
Darrell, Thank you very much, I have been able to do anything, the Old City web site is now under re-construction, so I am unable to do anything until it is re-done. It is suppose to be done sometime this month. However if there is anything you want of me I would be glad to help anyway I can. As soon as the site is up and working I will get back to work on the soldiers buried there. Ted

Just stopping by to say THANK-YOU! for the great photo of my grgrgrgrandfather's Headstone.
The sacrifice of your time is appreciated by many. I do totally understand your frustration, and am sorry that so many folks don't realize the great value of this site, and the importance of sharing. I'm with you in regards to the "numbers people." They are the ones who spoil it for so many others.
My best to you,

Darrell, I will do all I can to help, my progress was slowed by the death of my 101 year old mother, it was hard to get myself back into my work, On these soldiers graves, but I am doing much better now. Ted

Darrell, I am sorry I have not wrote sooner, but I Have been real busy. I see what you mean, and frankly I don't know what to do. I went and did some more checking, but there does not seem to be an easy solution. Ted

Hi Darrell - Thank you for the kind offer to transfer Lucy Kemp Newhall's memorial to me. Some of the members of my extended family have lived in or around Lynchburg, but to the best of my knowledge I am not related to Levi and Rebekah. I'm happy just knowing that you were able to link her to her parents; it isn't necessary to transfer her memorial. best regards from Vermont -Deb

Glad to help any time. I am in the upstate but travel to the Charleston area several times a year.
|Tina Akans Baker||RE: James Akans|
Thanks for the information. That narrows it down a bit. We had heard through the years that he was buried in Lynchburg.
Thanks again, Tina
I am so sorry that you have driven to this point. I will miss you. You contributed so much.
I wish you the best,

I thank you so much for taking a picture of the area where Uncle Harry is buried. Do you have a close up of his headstone?
I appreciate the job you do,
A grateful niece,
