Being involved with Oak Hill cemetery since 2003, I have accumulated a lot of information. While I have resisted using the virtual cemetery format, I have decided that if I volunteer, the information provided will be accurate, and I can encourage people to become actively involved and maybe visit the cemetery in person. Most early cemeteries are non profit, and will only survive if families get interested and involved. Although the requirement is only to fulfill photo requests, and we have every stone at Oak Hill photographed, there is usually more to the story than a name on the monument, for instance is it a burial or a memorial, so trust but verify, and ask questions. Keep in mind Oak Hill Cemetery is over 20 acres and has more than 10,000 burials since 1854.|
In the spirit of Find a Grave, the Board of Directors has allowed me to upload volunteer photo requests, and minimal information without charge as stated by Find A Grave. But additional search information is to remain out of public messages due to privacy concerns. The look up service and requests for information from cemeteries is usually handled as a request for donations or if an extensive search is required an hourly fee is suggested. The proceeds from these requests go into our Friends of Oak HIll Cemetery Fund or to defray the costs of maps and educational materials we provide throughout the year.

The photos (two) you have posted on his memorial (#62690852) are photos of his daughter's headstone. Could you put them on her memorial... Marion Camp (#141493134)? Thank you!

Could you please remove the photo from this memorial. We have just found that Marion Camp was not buried with her husband. (News to us.)

Thank you so much for the great clear picture of Dr. Meffert's stone. It is outstanding and perfect. I appreciate your continued hard work and care that you give to folks looking for a specific stone in the Cemetery.

Thank you very for your work on these photos; I really appreciate it!
I noticed your comment on the difficulty of obtaining a good photo when the light is poor and the inscription is shallow. I have run into that problem myself on several occasions; the best solution that I was able to devise was to take a shot from a very oblique angle, gaining a reflection from light which was coming in from the side, such as on # 124021251 and # 45299897.
Thanks again, and have a fantastic week!
