Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am a second generation native of California, but my roots go deep into New England via the Midwest and Great Plains. (Genealogy and family history figure large in my interests.)

I grew up with a view of Glen Abbey Memorial Park, and my siblings and I roamed its grounds when we could. Although none of my family is buried there, I feel a kind of ownership of that place!

I like to take multiple photos in Glen Abbey Memorial Park, to give a feel for the place where people are buried. If I have posted more photographs than you would prefer on a memorial of one of your loved ones, let me know your preferences. On the other hand, if I have only posted a photo of the marker and you would like something more, let me know that, and I will take more photos or add something I already have for that area of the cemetery.

De La PENA, EDWARD: Newspaper Obituary and Death Notice

San Diego Union-Tribune, The (CA) - Friday, July 22, 2005
Deceased Name: De La PENA, EDWARD
August 3, 1927 to July 22, 2004 it has been one year since you left us. There is an emptiness in our lives that can never be filled. We find some consolation in that you are no longer suffering. Never a day goes by without our shedding a tear at the loss of our big brother, kind nephew and wonderful friend. Both Bandit and Pingo have gone to be with you and we know they are making you happy. You enriched the lives of everyone you touched with your wit, humor, smiles and your compassion. The music room is now silent, but that is as it should be. Rest well, dear Eddie, and know that you are always in our hearts. The stars are not wanting now Pity everyone. Pack up the moon And dismantle the Sun.
Put away the ocean And sweep out the wood. We miss you, Beloved; You are everything good.
Hal, Mae, Jimmy and Debbie.

Many thanks for your headstone photography. I know what's involved in traveling to the cemetery, finding the plots, sometimes cleaning the headstones, taking the pictures, and uploading them; all for a perfect stranger. I really appreciate your efforts.
Thanks and best regards, Karl Hamlin

RE: Steven Crawford
Thank you so much, Jane. You're right. I know Steve's father, and he will be buried with Steven. The boy's death still brings tears to his father's eyes, so it gave me a little comfort to create the child's memorial. The photos are lovely, and it makes it want to visit Glen Abbey.

Thank you, Jane. I love your story about Glen Abbey and your sense of place there. I'm in no hurry for the photos and I thank you for your help.
