After my mom passed away in Jan. of 2008, I became interested in learning our family history. I wish I had taken my dad's advice, years ago, to write down the information he'd given me. (As one grows older, memory gets poor.) |
Armed with curiosity, determination, a computer and a few remembered names, I was able to begin my search and have traced the Morgan family back the 1700's. This search also revealed some French ancestors in the 1500's.

|Michael Rhodes||More children for Jane Alzena Elvirra Dorris Morgan|
On your page for Jane Alzena Morgan, you have her two oldest children listed. My research has uncovered some other children, but I cannot edit the page. My list of her children are:
James Madison Morgan (3/26/1856 - 1/24/1924)
Drucilla Cellar Morgan (1/7/1858 - 2/1/1944)
George Washington Morgan (1/16/1860 - 12/12/1935)
Mary Jane Morgan (4/12/1864 - 3/11/1955)
T E Morgan (8/25/1866 - 8/25/1866)
The last child's birth/death dates and Jane's death date are the same. My research showed she died in childbirth.
Hope this helps.

I found a picture on a page you maintain, and was wondering if you had a list of names of the folks in that picture. The pic is located at http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSln=morgan&GSfn=john&GSiman=1&GScid=4378&GRid=21930441&, on the page of John Wesley Morgan.
My dad began researching our family in the 1980's and passed away in 1990. I have since taken all his records, digitized them, and began doing some of my own research. John Wesley Morgan is my great grandfather. As a child, I remember attending a Morgan family reunion at Tin Top several years in a row (I'm 61 now).
My dad's and my research are posted on Ancester.com under the name rhodesmk.
Thanks in advance for any assistance you can pass my way. :-)

Just a quick check on the cemetery where he is listed to have been buried ... if he died in Morgan County, is there a reason he would have been buried in Monroe County (quite some distance away)? I am willing to go on a search if you can confirm this. Thank you.

I'm glad that I (accidently) found those dates for you. I'll keep looking and if find anything, I'll let you know. I'm looking for someone in the Lebanon cemetery and thought I'd add anything extra that I could find.

After I check my photos against Findagrave and the cemetery index, Lillian was the only one that was not entered. Hope this helps your research.

There are a few more Morgan graves there. I took pics of them also. I will try to add them soon.

You are most welcome :-) The church that owns the cemetery is still an active functioning church and the cemetery is still in active use. Perhaps they keep good records. If you contact them and get info on where they might be interred, feel free to get in touch with me at firstname.lastname@example.org and I'll be happy to return to the cemetery to photograph the plots.
