No further permission is needed to use any photographs we have uploaded to this site. We only request that you do not use them for profit.

For those memorials we have created we would prefer to transfer them to family or friends to manage so please request a memorial transfer. We would be more than happy to oblige. The only exception would be if they are our relatives. If you send us a message that you would like us to transfer a memorial to you, we can transfer the memorial to you or, if you wish, we can delete our memorial so that you can enter your own.

Usually the memorials we have entered have been entered in an attempt to complete local cemeteries and almost always have been entered after we photograph the graves. Sometimes while fulfilling a photo request we encounter other apparent family members' gravestones. We usually photograph them and if they have not been entered in find a grave we create their memorials. We walk the cemetery and do not work off of obituary notices nor any other database. Other contributors have done a terrific job of documenting cemeteries through various databases and for their hard work we are very grateful.

Our motivation behind participation in find a grave is solely to help others. We try to help by photographing gravestones for requests and photographing and entering memorials to complete a cemetery, and in some cases, to map a cemetery. We will also try to include GPS information for gravestone photographs beginning in November 2017. We are not interested in receiving credit for entering photographs and memorials. That is NOT why we participate in find a grave. Finding links to our ancestors on find a grave has opened many doors in our own research, and seeing a photograph of the gravestone helps us to bring that person's memory to life. To that end we hope any information we enter in find a grave will prove to be helpful to others in their own family history research and memories. Many of the gravestones we photograph are becoming illegible over time. We hope by taking photographs and entering the memorials on find a grave we can help keep the deceased person’s memory alive, if not in weathered stone at least as a photograph.

Out of respect for families we WILL NOT enter memorials for those recently deceased. We do this so that the family has time and can create the memorial if they so choose. We know how important it can be for family members to create their own memorials for their loved ones.
