I started doing full photographic inventories of cemeteries in St. Lawrence county NY back in 1999 and have about 175 cemeteries inventoried and online on my home page (see link below). I have copied the listings over to find-a-grave and am working on getting all the photos uploaded here as well. Its a slow process, so if you don't find what you are looking for here, check to see if I have it on my other site. Please don't add the pictures from my website to find-a-grave yourself. If you find a picture on my site that you would like added to find-a-grave, just send me an email or leave me a message and I'll be happy to add them. |
I also live near Washington DC from November thru April so for the last 7 years I have taken photos in Arlington National Cemetery. However, I am no longer participating in filling requests in Arlington. Over the last three - four years it has become quite unpleasant due to a couple other "volunteers". I will still be visiting Arlington and photographing markers. Currently, I'm working on photographing the markers of the WWI casualties. I just won't be filling requests since I can no longer deal with the harassment and I want to regain the feeling of dignity and serenity that I used to have each time I walked into the cemetery. It is one of the most honorable, respectful, serene, and to me, sacred locations in the world .
If you would like to take-over ownership of any memorials I've created for your family members just let me know. I'd be happy to transfer them to you. I have quite a bit of information on most of them so I will take a few minutes to add it (in case you don't have it), but after that, you can update it as you want.

Hi Anne, It is me again. Hold off on making a change to the above named person. (I just sent an edit). Something is not quite right with what I have. If you wish, you can turn this one over to me.
I believe that this is the mother of my 2nd great grandfather.
Keep up the good work.

This memorial has been duplicated and the person copied your picture and used it on the duplicate. I asked her to delete it.

Thank you for being a member of Find-A-Grave and also helping me with my research into my family in Upstate New York, as my mother called her home.
Please don't let the negativity of a few dim the appreciation of the many people you have help connect with our long lost relatives.

|Northern Neighbors||Hi Anne|
I am so sorry in reading your profile page that you have lost some of you heart while contributing here at Find A Grave.
How well I remember your helpfulness and your own website many years before I ever heard of Find A Grave.
Northern New York took a huge leap forward in shared information because of your gravestone inventories - and with photos and much more!
I was pleased and honored that you also took requests for Arlington, knowing I would get a beautiful photo of my grandfather's resting spot when you claimed my request for a photo. I want you to know that meant so much to me - and from someone I always found to be so helpful and kind.
I wish you well and further wish you "all happiness". Know that you have left an indelible mark with your efforts and will continue to do so in whatever you do. The sun shines on you. :)
