Bio and Links
Bio Photo We are volunteer members of the Wabash Valley Genealogy Society Cemetery Committee working together to bring the past to life.

We walk the cemeteries and photograph the memorials and tombstones. We cannot research your genealogy for you. Please contact Vigo County Public Library for obituaries; they also have online death records and marriage information at (Special Collections) Genealogy and Local History.

We have had several memorials transferred to us for the Cemetery Committee to maintain. Thank you!

RE: William Nees find a grave
Yes, please do this if you think it is more appropriate. I would appreciate it and if you can leave the picture of the Cemetery Entrance stone since I don't have that picture on mine I would like that and will leave the name of the person who took that picture on mine. Thanks Again Kay

RE: Find A Grave
Thank you for getting back to me so soon. Actually I'm not new to find a grave, my e-mail address changed and when it did it looks like I haven't been a member that long. I have been a member for about 10 or 11 years. I couldn't get it to change so it shows that I have only been a member for a short time. I am not a professional genealogist but I follow 7 families paternal, maternal, and my husband's. On my close relatives most of my knowledge is personnel or from Ancestry, or Terre Haute Tribune, or Brazil Times, or the Genealogy Society in Center Point. I have also done research at the Vigo County Public Library. I didn't know they had a Wabash Valley Genealogy Society Cemetery Committee in Terre Haute. I would appreciate any help you can give me. I like the picture of the Cemetery Entrance which I didn't have on mine. Yes,I would appreciate it if you could transfer it to me. I leave my e-mail address so if anyone is researching the same person they can get in touch with me. However since I don't have a picture of the entrance it would be nice to leave it on there. I seen when I went back out to find a grave it had been changed on your site to William Thomas "Tom" Nees since I sent you the message. As far as I can tell in my research Oliver Roscoe Nees 189-1986 was not a half sibling, I don't know how this works but since I've been researching the Nees Genealogy I have never seen this or knew of their father or mother ever being married before or having any children before they were married. Thanks again for getting back to me so soon!

William Nees find a grave
Dear Wabash Valley Genealogy Society Cemetery Committee. I received a message from a Mr. Russ Nixon asking me to remove the information and Cemetery I put out on find a grave for my paternal grandfather William Thomas (Tom) Nees. He stated he was a professional genealogist and that the info I added along with picture of my grandfather's stone was a duplicate to one your Society has out there. Memorial #26703829. I'm very sorry, I didn't realize that there was already one out there for him. I'm not a professional genealogist, I did go to the cemetery and take a picture of his stone. I am very patriotic and very thankful to all those who served our country to protect our freedom. If I see a service person I greet them and thank them for protecting our freedom. The information I have on my grandfather is from personal knowledge or Ancestry, or the Genealogy Society in Center Point Indiana where I do some of my research on the Nees family. Is it best if I remove mine? Thank You Kay (Nees) Katopodis

Are you sure of the Birth Date of 1871? I believe is is 1893 or so. I know what is says on the head stone is 1871 but I still believe it is wrong since his Draft card says 1893.

Death records/local history
Hi! Do you know where I can get copies of Death records and local histories. I am working on the Habermeyer family from Germany. Also, do you photograph at the Woodlawn Cemetery?

Yes, I can tell the picture was taken in the condition found but my question is WHY wasn't/isn't the debris removed before the photo is taken. If you can't totally read the stone, as new as it looked, then why take a picture of the dead debris that can easily be removed!!! I've done thousands of these photos and I know when researching your ancestry a person would like to know beyond a doubt
what the stone reads, not read between the debris.
