Bio Photo Finding Graves in Western Massachusetts and along any trails I am hiking.

Currently researching several family lines including Secor, Trim, Rolla, and Alker. Using,, and to try to get a complete family history. Following in the footsteps of my grandparents, Robert and Annamae Trim, who through their 50 years of genealogy research, were able to get our family tree back to the 1300's.

Re: Photo request for Benjamin Rolla 1842
Attached is a copy of the problem report I submitted on this photo request:

According to the Mt Hope Interment Records (, Benjamin Rolla died in 1842 at the of age 36 of dropsy and was buried in St Patrick's Cemetery.

This site gives a detailed explanation: but the gist of it is that in the mid-1800s, the Mt Hope Interment Records were used to record all burials in the city of Rochester, including those at other cemeteries. St Patrick's Cemetery is a now-defunct cemetery, with most of the remains having supposedly been moved to Holy Sepulchre Cemetery where there is a general memorial for all of the removals from St. Patrick's. (You can see a picture of that on Memorial #31976547 for Bridget Agan and could ask Judy Williams, the volunteer who posted it, to do the same for Benjamin Rolla if you want.)

RE: John & Elizabeth O'Shaunghnessy
I rather doubt your O'Shaughnessy family is related to mine, but... who knows. Garrett married my great great grandmother Catherine (Smith) Forrester, after her first husband, my gggf, William Forrester died. William died in 1851, either just before or just after my great grandmother was born. The Forresters were from Dublin, Ireland. Sometime after William died, my gggm married Garrett O'Shaughnessy. They had a daughter Mary. Garrett was a member of the IRB (forerunner of the IRA). Due to some troubles Garrett got into because of that, they fled Ireland, and came here. They lived in NYC, where Garrett worked as an Iron Moulderer. I don't know any of the details of his death, other than, on Sept. 30, 1898, he supposedly committed suicide, by swalling carbolic acid! As my gg grandmother died only 10 years later, nobody in the family ever really talked about thime, so, I have no idea if he had any brothers who came over, or any other relatives. His and my gg grandmother's daughter Mary first married a man named Armstrong (can't remember his first name at the moment), then after he passed, she married George C. Miller, and they lived in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. There are some descendants living yet, however, they know nothing further about the family either. If you find out that our O'Shaughnessys are related, please do let me know! Thanks, and YW for the transfer!

RE: Bezar White
Your welcome. It is always nice to help someone see their ancestors final resting place they may be able to see for themselves.

RE: Secor
You're welcome! Are you a descendent of John Jacob Aster Secor? He is my third great grandfather.

My pleasure to transfer your great-grandparents' memorials over to you. They wouldn't somehow be related to Garrett and Katherine O'Shaughnessy, who are buried in the same cemetery, would they? Katherine was my great great grandmother. Garrett was her second husband.

Walnut Grove
I had a folder on my PC with images from this cemetery I could not readily attribute to a memorial I created. I added over 250 memorials to Walnut Grove from an old 1930's transcript. Unfortunately some of the headstones/markers that were clear enough to read at that time are no longer or perhaps have sunk out of sight. I just filled 7 of those photo requests. It seems there are 61 memorials without a photo at this point.

Walnut Grove Cem.
I thought I would drop you a message and explain my gazillion edits. I photographed the entire cemetery this weekend, even checking the wall (where I sometimes find discarded broken stones). My edits are strictly for what is on the headstone/monument and if you pull up the profile you will see a close up photo (in the case where perhaps you didn't have a date or it was off a bit) of what it actually reads. The sun that day was pristine and hitting nearly every stone perfectly. Some of your photos were taken on a darker day or later in the afternoon, those older stones are SO hard to read if not completely illuminated. Thanks! Jim
