The second oldest of four children born to Harry & Evelyn Ashburn. US Navy veteran, former long haul tractor trailer driver and now a retired CEOL (Construction Equipment Operator [Light]) with the New York State Thruway.|
All of the entries that I've posted in this site relate to family members, friends, or others with whom I've had some personel connection.
Because of some physical limitations I'm reluctant to add my name to the photo volunteer list but I'd certainly be willing to try to help with whatever photos I can if I'm provided with specific information on location and it's within a reasonable distance of my home in the 12590 zip code. I have a good digital camera and I'm reasonably good using it so the results should be something you'll be happy with. Keep in mind though, we sometimes get heavy snow during the winter months (when else?) and grave marker photography will probably be pretty limited during that time of year.

Hello Sir Jhon
My name is Adriano Marini, I live in Brazil and my ancestors came from Italy, the Marini were originating from Palombara and Rome and Migliorancci ancestors were from Verona and, like you, also built a family tree on the site "My Heritage".
The site "Heriage" showed that we have in our tree four people who are our ancestors in common, so I believe that somehow we can be relatives.
I do not pay the subscription site, so I can not add you, but I can if you want to send you my tree so we can see our coincidences.
In most like to be a new friend.

My 2nd great grandfather, Samuel Halman, resided with your ancestors from 1860 and up.He was 9 years old in 1860. I was wondering if you knew of any stories or facts about why Samuel resided with the Ashburn Family. Samuel ended up having a son named Flavius Halman.

The cemetery you added to findagrave.com is not in Monongalia County, WV but already exists in Wetzel County, WV. You have Joseph Martin Jackson buried in the wrong county. The website for all the cemeteries in Monongalia County, WV is as follows: http://usgwarchives.net/wv/monongalia/cemetery.htm
As you can see Mascedonia is not listed as a cemetery in that county. I know that he is in this cemetery:
His daughter Viola Jackson-White is buried there along with her husband William (my relative) and her children.
If you look at the photos of the church on both cemeteries they are the same church.
I want to link her father Joseph Martin Jackson to her memorial but can't until he is in the correct cemetery. If you would, please correct this. Thanks.

I left a photo of our great-great grandparents Albert and Phoebe Kimble tombstone on their memorial page.
Looking through the 1870 census in Preston Co. (which is hard to read) I ran across this on Page 23 line 5-9 Family 169:
Ashburn, Enos, age 33, born PA
Ashburn, Phebe Ellen, Age 32, born VA
Ashburn, Elmer Evans, Age 5, born WV
Ashburn, Annie E., age 4, born WV
Nelson, Edwin M., age 24, born VA
I believe Annie may be Hannah Elizabeth that married Warren Loar.
In the transcribed version, all were listed under Nelson.
Gilley May Ashburn (Female) is listed in Preston born 02 Jul 1873 and died of Croup 27 Dec 1878 (under Gillen May Ashburn).
Elmer Evans Ashburn's death cert is in Morgantown, Monongalia Co. and available online.
Hope this information is helpful.

Hi John, I just came across your posting of the obit and headstone of my cousin Billy Fitzpatrick. I enjoyed reading your memories of him. He was my mother's first cousin. I have photos of Fitzpatrick headstones at St. Mary's, but did not have Billy's. Thank you for having posted these. Cheri

Hi John -
I've just discovered that I have quite a few distant ancestors buried in this cemetery. May I have your permission to use the photo you took of the entrance? I'd like to use it for those ancestors that don't have markers in my genealogy database (Ancestry.com). Mine are the Barton's & families.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
