Capt. Thomas Cowan
You might want to add this to Capt. Cowan's memorial. In 1775, he and his wife were going to church, I think, and he saw a bear in a poplar tree. He told his wife to watch the bear while he went back to his home to get a gun. After he treed the bear, the name Bear Poplar stuck. So I guess you could say he was the founder of Bear Poplar. I know this because I live in Bear Poplar and have heard the story many times.

Rev Henry Petty
Hi,
Just to let you know, I left a picture on the memorial you created for Rev. Petty, and the source is in the picture's caption. Hope it's okay with you.

William Peace
I took pics today of the repaired grave marker for William Peace but the memorial is full. If you remove the two pics of the cemetery, there will be room to add pics of his marker, which is a vault. I took one of the vault and one closeup of his name and dates.

State Prisoner Burials
Hi McPherson,
Can you tell me where the prisoners were buried in the late 1930's? I have a record that is showing a burial place called "Duke," and this fellow died in Wake County. Any ideas?
Thanks
