Master Sgt Javellana,
Sir, your comment about Guam tipping over was something I should not have read with a mouth full of coffee sitting in front of my brand new computer. That was the funniest thing I have seen on Findagrave, EVER!
The reason I was on your page is because I saw your memorial page for Annette Funicello and your name caught my attention.
My son, Steven is also in the U.S. Air Force. We are from Texas, Greenville area, and he is currently serving at Ellsworth, AFB in Rapid City. He has served his Country in both Iraq and Afghanistan and decided after three tours he hadn't had enough. He is reenlisting this coming Friday at Ellsworth and has decided to become a lifer.
I also have a son in the Marine Corps. He is stationed at Marine Barracks in Washington, DC at 8th and I. He was sent there as an 18 year old kid fresh out of high school and now he is a 22 year old kid with his own platoon.
Thank you so much for your service and the service of your family. My family appreciates it.
Enjoy your retirement. You earned it!
Msgt Javellana: I want to Thank You for your service to this country and your committment to this site.
|Mark Goniwiecha||Guam cemeteries and PDN obits|
Hello, Mr. Allan Javellana,
I am a professor of library science retired from the University of Guam—and doing some family history research, writing up memorials of my ancestors, relatives and friends, also photographing the gravestones in Guam's cemeteries and creating memorials on the << findagrave.com >> site.
I also put some of them on my facebook in several photo albums.
I've been doing my family history actively for more than 20 years.
But I just started out on << findagrave.com >> a couple months ago.
But so far, I've visited several Guam cemeteries—the U.S. Navy Cemetery (or Agana Cemetery), the Custino Cemetery, also in Hagatna, the Pedro Martinez Cemetery, also in Hagatna, the Holy Cross (or Togcha) Cemetery in Yona, the Rest Haven (or Seventh Day Adventist) Cemetery in Talofofo, and the Inarajan (or Saint Joseph) Cemetery in Inarajan.
I would love to go to the Sumay Cemetery sometime—but do not have any base clearance! If you ever want to go there, please do let me know!
Also, whenever I "run into" an obituary or display memorial in the PDN that's not already posted in << findagrave.com >>, then I do it—
I wish the PDN obits conveyed more about the decedent's life—not just about the rosaries and masses!
Social Security numbers are public information once the person has passed. But, I will remove it from his memorial if you like.

Yes, I am sure it is the same one that brought it to mine. I wasn't at home when the request to delete came in... but as soon as I got home, I looked it up..and deleted mine. Judging from how your request was worded.. it was pretty much the same as his. He told me not to notify HIM but to notify YOU regarding it.. I just thought that deleting would be all that I needed to do... I didn't realize he was going to contact you, until I got the request from you. Anyway, mine is gone.

I was already notified that I had duplicated one of yours. Both memorials were done up on the same day, so that is why I did not see yours when I searched for a memorial for him. I have deleted the one that I did.

Relationship is distant back thru the Hayen's. My mother was a Gerdes, her mother was Andreesen who came from Leerhafe, Germany. Lots of the people from Wayne Zion came for the Leerhafe area of Germany. My greatgrandparents, Gerdes' and Andreesen's are buried at Wayne Zion. I've been working on creating memorials and family links, plus gravestone photos to document the entire cemetery.
If you see errors in my work, please contact me as the names repeat as in the Wilke Husmann's and even tho I search for obits to document the families it does get confusing.

I added the information about their nephew. Thanks for the information and thanks for your service to the county. Cindy G.

Thanks for the heads up on Mr. Abbott's cemetery. I always try to be accurate, but sometimes I make mistakes. Human, I guess.
Thank you for your service to our country.

Thanks for doing a bit more research and verifying the correct location of the Guam Veterans Cemetery, and for transferring your memorials to Piti. Perhaps you could also work with FindaGrave Administration to remove/delete the incorrect one? I realize that the VA Grave Locator lists the wrong one, and probably will continue to do so, and not sure how to "fix" that.
But I do want to thank you for verifying this for me.
