Retired Navy Reserve officer as well as civil servant. Brought up in a very patriot family of Nelsons and have keen interest in genealogy. One continuing effort of mine is to document all cemeteries within York County, Virginia, and updating all current listing of graves in Find A Grave. If you know of family cemeteries in York County, not listed in Find A Grave, please contact me.|
During 2013 I have been adding memorials to the Oakland Cemetery in Keokuk, Lee County, Iowa, where several of my ancestors are buried (Rankin, Irwin, & Thomasson). The Lee County Geneaology organization records transcribed around 1969 was available online which I added. I realize original transcription errors exits and will be corrected as memorials are photographed. Another listing I use is the DeathCard listing. Still errors exist but a good source. I will be glad to transfer to family members any grave. If I contact you about adding additional information, it is your choice to do so or not. My objective is to give you an opportunity to find your family not previously recorded in FIND A GRAVE. Note: I provide funeral record information to include vault type: ashes, urn, steel, concrete, cement, box (wood), Wilbert, Doric, styrofoam, paper, and wood. The term 'box' refers to a wooden casket/container which is less expensive to many families in the past.

I have checked the cemetery records. The correct spelling is Frances with an "e."

Thanks for all the help. I've made changes per your info. I'm still off by a couple of years on her birth. I'll work on it.

Why are you putting "buried in a box by DeJong Funeral Home" on her memorial? You should get your facts straight before adding it to a memorial. The record of a person being "buried in a box" according to DeJong Funeral Home is that this person was buried in a box that is the state minimum required. The way you're wording it makes it sound like they are buried in a cardboard box next to the funeral home! Buried in a box BY DeJong Funeral Home does not mean they are buried next to the flower patch and front porch of the funeral home. It means that DeJong Funeral Home did the arrangements. Please stop posting this on memorials! It's not even relevant if it was true!
