Not too much to tell - I'm an amateur genealogy researcher and don't care to help out others with their research if I can. I'm retired and have some time available to do this. I believe that all burial grounds are sacred, and that each and every grave means something to someone.

I work mostly the western section of Washington County, TN.

My F-A-G work is somewhat limited. It goes in spurts. I enjoy trying to help folks out. It seems hard to get errors fixed, however. I continue to work locally and, if asked, I try to assist researchers. I work more on graveyard documentation, restoration, and preservation. I appreciate those of you who sent thank you messages, I truly do - you account for about 10 percent of the requests that I process. To the others, please think about your volunteers - they research the locations of the markers, often hike to family cemeteries thru brush and briars, we spend hours and dollars fulfilling requests - It is work and we take it seriously.

RE: Duplicate photo
I know some cemeteries in Find A Grave are my work that has been checked. Of course someone may have changed something. So I was looking at that. I do have Excel, don't even know what Open Office is.
I fiddle with Excel, but honestly don't know how to really use it. I know I don't know Betty. I've only lived in Greene County for 5 yrs. I lived in Madison Co., NC also for 5 yrs. I am from Illinois. As far as do I want to be a TNGENWEB person. I don't know. When I did the cemeteries only one of them did I bother with stating what section the markers were in, otherwise they usually don't even have sections. So I feel like I'd have to backtrack if TNGENWEB wants location.

When I started working in Greene Co. I inherited a lot of memorials to maintain on Find A Grave from a lady who got booted off due to her errors and duplications, etc. I spent one winter getting the obvious duplicates fixed and merger duplicate cemeteries, etc. It has been a job. Then I started doing entire cemeteries because it was actually the best way to find missing markers, etc.

So, I guess I need to think on it. I live near Rheatown and have done most of the cemeteries close to me and some farther away.

RE: Duplicate photo
I cannot figure out how you get your file from Find A Grave imported into TnGenWeb. It's a mystery to me.

Thank you very much for the photo of Elizabeth Northington Carathers headstone. She is one of my third great grandmothers on my mother's side of the family. I live on the other side of the country and would rarely, if ever have the opportunity to take a photo myself. I appreciate your hard work and dedication!

You are way ahead of me. I know the website you are talking about, but didn't even think about putting anything on it. You are also a lot more active than I am. I do this when I find the time away from the farm and in good weather, meaning spring and fall mostly. I will keep your note in case I have some questions.

RE: Duplicate photo
Thanks so much Gordon. I am attempting to get all cemeteries here in Greene Co. surveyed again, but I am just one person. I just keep plugging away at it. I didn't take the photos at Lovelace. Another lady is doing it and she is chalking a lot of stones, yet it is helping.

Duplicate photo
Hi, Could you please remove one of your photos. The computer must have hiccupped on this one and there are two of the same photo.

Thanks, I will keep that in mind when I get stumped with a Washington County tombstone again. Too bad you're so far from Cocke County, really need someone to photograph the stones at the Allen Cemetery at Wolf Creek. If Betty Walker is still around at the old place I'm sure that she would like to have another historian pay her a visit.
