I will do photo volunteer if possible in my area of Towanda, KS. I have been doing family research for over 20 yrs. Most of my family members come from Illinois down through Iowa, Nebraska and settled in Kansas on the east side of the state. Family names are Gillaspie, Gillham, Murphy, Frye.|

This is what I have (It is from Duane Gillaspie)
ALFRED ANDREW2 GILLASPIE (Andrew1) was born on 12 Feb 1856 in Monroe County, Iowa. He died on 03 Nov 1942 in Allen Co., Kansas. He married Florence Belle Briggs, daughter of Walter Briggs and Mary Jane Ladner on 26 Dec 1880 in Allen Co., Kansas. She was born on 22 Feb 1863 in Greencastle, Jasper Co., Iowa. She died on 30 May 1934 in Allen Co., Kansas.
Notes for Alfred Andrew Gillaspie:
The Iowa Genealogical Society Surname Index, Vol 4, 1983, Page 128 contains the following
Alfred Andrew Gillaspie, b. 1886 IA, d. 1942 KS, m. 1880 KS to Flora (Florence) Bell Briggs.
Source: The Bronson Record Date of record: May 19, 1898
A. Gillaspie met with quite a painful accident yesterday while waiting to have work done at the Thompson and Donneley's blacksmith shop. Mr. Thompson was cutting plow points when one of the red-hot pieces of steel flew and struck Mr. Gillaspie, the sharp point making a wound in his leg.
The wound caused him much pain but was not serious.
(From microfilm of newspaper files at Kansas Historical Society, Topeka, Kansas) Source: Wilma Coleman, (granddaughter)
Alfred Gillaspie bought farm at tax sale - Allen Co., Osage Twp. 10 acres. Off north side of NW 1/4 of NE 1/4 of Sec 10, Township 24, Range 21 - deeded to him Sept. 2, 1899.
Original house burned on a Sunday in August, 1925. According to Earl Gillaspie, a deaf grandson, started the fire by setting fire to the wallpaper in one of the bedrooms. He was paddled by the grandfather according to Earl.

Notes for Florence Belle Briggs:
Flora moved from Jasper County, Iowa at the age of 4 to Kansas.
Source: Moran Herald (probably)
Date of record: June 1934
Flora Belle Briggs was born in Jasper County, Iowa, February 22nd, 1864 and died at her home May 30th, 1934. Age 70 years, 3 months and 8 days.
When four year of age, she came with her parents to Kansas and settled in Allen County, where she spent the remainder of her life, Dec. 26, 1880. She was married to Alfred Gillaspie, and to this union 9 children were born, 6 boys and 3 girls, all of whom are living except one daughter, Grace, who preceded her in death six years ago.
Early in life she accepted Christ as her savior.
Besides her husband and children she leaves 15 grand children and one great grand child.
She was always a true and devoted wife and mother and will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
From Wilma Coleman August 1, 1996.
We kids thought she was very grouchy; however, since I am older and thinking back, she probably wasn't too well. She walked with a walking stick and didn't bend too well. Always wore very shapeless dresses and went bare footed in the summer.

Nope haven't found anything concrete yet but I am working on a new strategy. If I find anything out I will let you know. Working on my tree gives me new ideas for finding about his life.

|Donna Lyle Alumbaugh||Transfer|
Hi, thank you for your kindness in transferring William Gillham. Appreciate it very much. Donna
My husband is a descendent of John C Gillham. Do you have info on his parent's? We are stumped on who his parent's are since there is no record of it and Wayne Co., IA doesn't have an obit for him.
|Donna Lyle Alumbaugh||Nancy Gillham|
Thanks for good headstone photo and for posting Nancy Gillham.
She is a great great grandmother. I would like to know if you would transfer her to me if she is not your grandmother also?

Thank you for your kindness, Donna A

Just a reminder, my fellow members of the Fayette County Cemetery Trust and myself keep a watchful eye on her final resting place.
