Bio and Links
Bio Photo With much of my immediate family growing in and around the Washington D.C area for generations, I was never overly curious about family history. After a friend who was more interested than I found photos of relatives gravesites in other states who were born during the time of Andrew Jackson I was amazed. Even a marker for my grandmother's unnamed infant son which I had seen in home movies had been photographed by someone.
I am most familiar with Arlington Cemetery, Oak Hill and Cedar Hill Cemetery on Pennsylvania Avenue. I have taken many photos for my own enjoyment and for friends over the years, but realize others are often not so near.

RE: Treptow/Bloomer City Cemetery
Thank you for the information on Martin Treptow. I wasn't aware! As soon as the weather gets a bit nicer and I get back out into the cemeteries, I will try to add to his burial record!

Thanks again,

RE: Hawkins
I found Thomas and Mary's son, Archibald Vincent Hawkins ["Archie"] (19 May 1888 - June 1965). He is buried in Arlington National Cemetery. I sent an edit asking the person who added Archie to link him to his parents. Archie is #49200266.

In the 1900 U.S. Census, one of Thomas and Mary's children is already deceased as she was the mother of 5 children and only 4 were still alive.

For some reason, Florence Anita Hawkins is called Genesta Hawkins (born Oct 1894) in the 1900 Census.

Thomas and Mary had another daughter, Leila Hawkins (born Sept 1892), that I can't seem to track down.

RE: Hawkins
Thomas Ford Hawkins (1860 - 18 Feb 1898) was born in Maryland and died in Washington, DC.

Mary Alice (Thorn) Hawkins (9 Jan 1861 - 20 Oct 1930) was born and died in Washington, DC. She was the daughter of William G.B. Thorn (1837 - 2 Apr 1904) and Annie A. (McIntire) Thorn (born c.1837). The death record mistakenly gives the name of Mary's husband as John Hawkins.

Anita is the daughter of Thomas and Mary Hawkins. Florence Anita (Hawkins) Callahan married Vincent F. Callahan (born c.1902/03) on 22 Oct 1924 in Washington, DC. In the 1930 Census, Vincent and Florence Callahan were living in Washington, DC, and her mother, Mary A. Thorn, was living with them. In the 1940 U.S. Census, Vincent and Anita F. Callahan were living in Wellesley, Norfolk, County, Massachusetts. Vincent is possibly the Vincent Frances Callahan (5 Apr 1902 - 27 Mar 1864) buried in Arlington National Cemetery.

I love to do research, so if there are any more people you need dates for I will try to find them.

RE: Umhau
I just realized that you didn't add the Hawkins, so I deleted the duplicate edits requests I made. Would you want me to sen you the information and you could put it under their daughter?

RE: Umhau
I redid the Hawkins edits and I now have them twice under edits I have sent. If you can't find them, let me know and I will just put them in an email.

Holy Rood Cemetery

Since you seem to be interested in Holy Rood Cemetery, I thought that you might find this link interesting. It is a link to the Holy Trinity Church records that have recently been digitized by Georgetown University and are available to look at. I found several of the people that I was searching for in these records. You should check out the death records since when they refer to the "Upper Graveyard", they are referring to Holy Rood.

Find A Grave Memorial# 89799383

Thanks for the information on John J Shanley's parents. I agree with you and have linked John J. to his parents' memorials. It is nice to see the gravestone uncovered.
